Hi im very scared of ALS, but I dont think its that. I think its just a pinched nerve in my neck or spine. But its affecting my face/nose muscles and my breathing. im 27, healthy, but really scared I damaged a nerve. I had a brain MRI about 7 months ago and it was clean, would that rule out ALS?

Should I get a neck/spine MRI as well?

I would not be worried a MRI would have found this.
All the symptoms you describe are anxiety based.
Don't let health anxiety or anxiety make your life less enjoyable.

i am in a similar situation. i have a condition that they are trying to figure out what it is. i had to do a lot of tests which i want to do as i want to know what i have. they have tested me to see if i have lupus through a lumber puncture(a needle inserted into the spinal canal to collect cerebrospinal fluid for diagnostic testing) . my mum and doctor are saying it could just be the anxiety since all of the tests we have previousy done were all negative. i was rlly worried before but now i am more chill about it. i suggest not worrying about it. i know it is easier said than done but if you keep worring you start usig up all your energy on the wrong thing. maybe speaking to a therapist will help.

i would agree with izthewiz. i think worrying about a problem can be mentally draining taking out the enjoyment in you like. you are using up all your evergy on the wrong things. having a positive mindset can have a huge impact on your life- changing it dramatically.

i have been in a similar situation where doctors are trying to figure out what is wrong with me. i keep on asking what is the next test that we can do as i want to find out what is actually is. since all of my previous test results have been negative i was very frustrated but now i have learnt to accept it. my mum and the doctors have told me that it is probably the anxiety and now i believe that it. i belive that in your case, it is probably the anxiety. sometimes anxiety tells you all these lies like after my lubar puncture i went for a walk and my back hurt rlly bad and i thought i strained it and have to get it tested but that is not the case.

but in the end it is your body so it is up to you and nobody else x

hope this helps, have a great day

ALS wouldn't show on an MRI scan. A pinched nerve might, but probably not in a head MRI. For testing advice, see a doctor. Perceived weakness and difficulty breathing is insanely common with HA sufferers, though, and I would bet that's what you're dealing with.

ALS will not show up on an MRI. The true way of finding out if you have nerve damage or pinched nerve is with a nerve conductivity study (EMG).
