Hi all. I received a package today from SHEIN (a company based in China- Ik I’m stupid) and my washing machine doesn’t work. Instead, I chose to fill a basin with hot water, add in some detergent, and soak the clothes, agitating them for about five minutes. Then I rinsed then with hot water and put them in a hot dryer. My question is: is this enough to kill possible COVID germs? I will wash them after one wear, but I’m concerned.

From what I understand, the virus can't survive on the long trip from China. And China isn't the epicentre anymore- their numbers are quite good compared to other parts of the world (new york state for example).

But, for your peace of mind, if you're concerned about killing the virus, you need a "Quat" disinfectant. I'm a food safety and sanitation manager at a major food plant of 500+ workers with not one positive case to date- unfortunately, killing covid has become my job so if you want to private message me I can guide you through any recommended disinfecting procedures you'd like to learn about- or point you in the right direction, anyways.
