Hi everyone.........I am back! Was doing pretty good for a couple of months and now it's all back. I finally got a diagnosis of spinal stenosis in my lower back and in my neck. My feet are always numb only time it goes away is when I am sleeping. My arms feel like they are burning and I still get that feeling like I am still walking off balance. Had MRI back in Sept. everything was clear. So when I feel like this I am always worried things did not show up on the MRI. Don't know if any of you have or heard of spinal stenosis.

I have no heard of it and am unfamiliar with the symptoms of it. Are the ones you’re experiencing common with spinal stenosis? A support group for it might do a world of good or just regular check ups. I know for my doc and some of my lingering health issues that have been checked out we just watch to see if symptoms change significantly or get worse

Thank you......a support group might be helpful.

Gale, This is great that you have a diagnosis, it explains many (all?) of the symptoms you have worried were MS!

I googled, I think my aunt has this as well but I’ll have to ask her because I’m not totally sure it’s the same name. I have many of these symptoms too and wonder if it could be what I have.

Can you go to physio? It sounds like that could really help

According to Dr Google spinal stenosis is "common" (I've heard of it), and symptoms are primarily in the neck and lower back - like you have. Sorry you're dealing with that, but I'm glad you got answers, finally. I know you've been chasing this for quite some time.

Thanks Binn.......sad to say I am not totally convinced. Is some of this also a part of anxiety. I still feel so lousy because these symptoms just continue to harass me!!!! Just don't know what to do anymore. Leaving for a cruise in Feb. and don't want to go feeling like this. I always said if nothing shows on my MRI I would accept it but now feeling that things don't always show up.

That's a classic anxiety thought process, yes. Nothing more. I recommend focusing on acceptance now that you know the root cause, rather than focusing on what doctors confirmed you're *not* dealing with.

It's so hard to accept it's anxiety when you feel physical symptoms that won't go away. You just keep saying wth is going on here. Some days I often I am a failure for not realizing it's anxiety. I often wonder how others function when they have so many symptoms. I know it's very difficult for me. Binn thanks for listening to me for so long.

I understand that completely. It's also about changing the way you talk about it, that was discussed when I was in therapy for a bit. Notice that what you said "it's so hard to accept it's anxiety when..." has a negative overall tone, with no positive reinforcement. This is no direct fault of your own, but a product of anxiety and all its joy (sarcasm). Instead, say / think something more positive, such as "anxiety makes it hard to accept, BUT I will work on accepting it." That's positive reinforcement, and in the long term it can actually change your overall outlook.

I don't plan on going anywhere, so I'll continue chiming in whenever I feel I can lend something useful. :D

It's not your fault, anxiety pushes us into this negative state. It becomes a habit, our norm, and it's not a conscious effort. Hang in there, Gale. :)

I just had a MRI of my head down to spine.
If they didn't note anything except spinal stenosis consider yourself good.
As we age that causes our back to run into issues with nerve impingement.
You're good don't look anymore into this.
My MRI wasn't as good as yours.
I have nerve impingement And my feet are always freezing and ice cold to the touch.
It will not kill you and burning isn't common for me.
Get ms out of your mind it will cause bad things for your mind.
If they didn't see any lesions on your spine no worries.
If you're tired get your hormones checked. I'm almost 40 and take testosterone.
