So I overindulged on chocolate , ice cream and other sugary food the past few days... I normally live in a low fat, low sugar balanced diet... But I noticed I got anxiety from it all... anyone else here get this from chocolate?

then if I do that, would that be more caffeine instead? I don't want caffeine either... dr. said it's not good for anxiety

From Lindt, the chocolate company:

“Even chocolate with a high percentage of cocoa has very minimal amounts of caffeine (less than 0.1%), which means those wishing to avoid caffeine do not have to worry when it comes to chocolate”

I feel your anxiety is your diet in general. You say you eat a balanced diet but had a couple of days of going overboard. Overindulged, what does that mean to you? And i know anxiety is alot of things, was this the first time after eating chocolate, ice cream or any sugar snack that anxiety took over that much? Were the 3 things you typed out that was overboard all chocolate or had chocolate chips on/in them?

I am a choco-holic. I grew up with a nana (grandmother's name we used) she baked cookies, cakes and made candies (some were chocolate and most had chocolate as a filling we also helped her). So if i ever knew what overindulged was i would say maybe 3 pounds of just chocolate (nearly any kind) in a day, would be that to me, i was eating 2 snack-cake chocolate, mint-chip soft chew cookies, as i'm laying on a bed tapping my post, hoping i get an hour of sleep before i go to PT tomorrow.

thanks for the info.. Yes, diet is least of my problems 90% of the time... I know about eating clean, etc. and followed Arnold's Encyclopedia to a T....Problem I had run into recently was the binge eating and yes, overindulgence in some delicious Chocolate. Correct, it wasn't the first time this had happened as on other rare occasions I'd eat a box of girl scout cookies (in one seating) as well as ice cream, chocolate candy bars or Reece's cups..

I just noticed anxiety would hit after consuming those foods... chocolate for me anyways, was a big one...

Thanks for that. As a chocoholic I appreciate any good news about chocolate. :):):):) I have never found it did me any harm, but all things in moderation! I have recently sourced a firm that makes chocolate with 88% pure cocoa. Tastes good but without any harmful effects. The jury seems to be out still in the medical world about the benefits or otherwise of chocolate.

I have "searched" online for chocolate and other snacks causing anxiety. No solid to me, proof was found.

Try to limit your 10% off this diet. And remember this anxiety can happen again and how it made you feel. Good luck with this start of your new diet (less than a year you probably have been on it).

And chocolate has 4 effects to humans (my smooth brain thinks)...
1: it's delicious
2: some people (my cousin is 1) are allergic to chocolate and it can kill them.
3: it's delicious
4: evil people don't like chocolate.
5: it"s delicious
6: some people (my mom is 1) get migraines from it.
7: it's an expensive delicious thing...

Did i tap it as 4? Ooops...

I have to watch what I eat also! Any caffeine! Gives me bad anxiety and palpitations! And allot of sugary things makes it worse also. I cut out all soda and caffeine. Trying to lay off chocolate and sweets as well. It's hard but worth it when u have anxiety.

Yeah, that happens to me too. The sugar rush feels good for a bit, but then I crash hard and get anxious or jittery

Oh my goodness! It is so difficult to lay off chocolate when you are a chocoholic. I have to limit myself to a few cubes a day if I don't I do get effects, Geeeeeze! what a cruel world it is when we can't enjoy our favourite food. The old song comes to mind, 'Its's immoral or illegal or it makes you fat'.;););)
That's life!

Yup. Sugar and high-carb meals make me anxious and depressed.
