It can certainly help....It has helped myself personally. Discuss it all with your doc and they will lead you in the correct direction.

At least try an antidepressants. See your doc. Benzos to take to help calm anxiety attacks but when needed only is best

If CBT therapy didn't work I would try natural herbs first before the psych drugs. I would be wary of the kava though.

Lexapro (an antidepressant), but there are other good antidepressants (SSRI types) helped me slow down the constant ruminations, including suicidal thinking. Xanax initially, and then Klonopin, both benzos, helped temper my physical reactions to all of the irrational thinking. These are only my experiences and as previously suggested, consult with a good doctor. CBT was helpful but only lessened my suffering minimally.

I have an rx for Prozac…still have yet to take it though. My anxiety is worse than ever and I don’t handle fall and especially winter time well at all. But I cannot bring myself to take it for a number of reasons.

You're strong.
I see many people give in right away.
That strength can help you get passed anxiety.
We're not supposed to be in control of everything and anxiety makes us into control freaks.

Have you considered asking your doctor for something called: Genesight Testing? Supposedly, it uses DNA from a cheek swab to determine what medications (at least, medications for depression/anxiety/etc...) your body is best able to tolerate based on what information can be gleamed from your genes.

It has to be a doctored ordered thing, but if your trial with Lexapro doesn't go the way you and your physician envision, it could be an opportunity to bring it up? It helps save some of the rigamarole of jumping from one SSRI to another. Takes some of the guesswork out of it.

I have heard of folk what took that test. I think only got in USA and cost $300

It can help but not by big % and still involves guesswork by doc. If money no object then why not
