Swollen Lymph Node

So, I have quite a history with HA. In my very early 20's it was so bad, I ended up on NBC news via satellite because I was 100% convinced I had like 18 different types of cancer. Anyway, it's gone away for the most part, I'm almost 30 but old habits die hard. Like googling :D

I've had chronic sinusitis for several months, I get a sinus infection/cold every 6 weeks or so and have been for nearly 2 years now. I also have very chronic and very dark depression. So that's cool. Anyway, on to the matter at hand.

Just a few days ago, I noticed the lymph node along my groin was protruding (and still is). It goes away when I sit/lay but it pokes back out when I'm standing. Now, a few nights before noticing it, I was lying in bed and that area started itching and as I was scratching I felt something that didn't belong. It was a tick! So I plucked the little SOB and disposed of it. The very next day I did a little "manscaping" around the area. I typically don't shave because I get ingrown when I do and I don't like them. So 2 days after trimming up, I feel/see the lymph node pop up. Now, my better common sense is telling me it's probably related to the hair I plucked/shaved being irritated. Buuuuut, of course when you google, the worst case scenario pops up and now I'm like "oh great, I've got the HIV". It's literally just the lymph node. I'm not losing weight, not having night sweats or headaches, not feeling malaise other than what my depression makes me feel, my workouts in the gym are harder and heavier than ever.

Anywho, I work 6 days a week and have no insurance. A little freaked out. Kinda' don't care either because death is inevitable.

Any thoughts on the matter or similar stories are appreciated.

Nodes tend to get irritated for anything. Consider the tick you pulled off or the shaving, both of which could make the node angry. As long as it's just that one symptom and nothing else, I think you're fine. Use context my friend

True. I mean my subconscious knows better. It HAS been a week and the thing is still there, still swollen. Considering other possibilities (like a hernia because I do lift heavy weights on the regular). Doesn't help that I'm developing a sore throat. But my anxiety isn't as bad as it used to be. If you google anything about lumps the immediate first 10 results are all about cancer lol.

Hi bunglefever. I was thinking about the hernia possibility when you first posted your symptoms but didn't want to add to your anxiety.

I had a hernia fear not long ago after doing heavy lifting. No bumps or lumps on me but I had pain so it was likely a muscle strain.

I mean, the only thing that would worry me about a hernia is the fact that I do lift 4 to 5 times a week and there are complications that can arise from a hernia and I don't have insurance. I just want this thing to go away because it seems like every day, with the power of the mind, a new "symptom" associated with that lump arises. Like stiffness in that leg or a pain or something stupid.
