Corporates are doing many activities to beat stress in their employees.  In today’s most competitive environment of MNCs  it is quite natural to go stressed and end up in anxiety disorders resulting low productivity.

Nowadays many corporates are celebrating each and every festive occasion to have a friendly working ambiance.  Things like a centralized music system and well designed cafeterias are part of most of the corporates now.

I used to work in a telecom company where a particular day in every  week is celebrated as family day.  On that day a group of employees and their families can visit the workplace along with kids.  This gives the spouse a chance to see the actual working ambiance and also a chance for families mingle each other.

I think these smalls things really help.  Do you know any such practices?

I know that in one of the stores I go to the employees have unlimited access to fountain drinks, a microwave, and a radio with a selection of CDs. I mostly see the employees hanging around that area having a drink or listening to music and having a bit of fun instead of moping around waiting for a customer to come around on slow days. Small additions can do good in a working environment. That tends to relieve a lot of stress.

This does create a less stressful environment when corporations do this, where I work now doesn't offer anything of this nature, but in a previous job I had, they would have cookouts for the employees and we could bring our families. This was nice because our families could see where I worked, and not only that all of the employees felt more appreciated, which in sense I believe caused less stress. :p

How would you guys deal with workplace bullying? I think I got 1. Her and I don't really talk, she doesn't really know me but, from earshot.. I hear her talking crap behind my back when she doesn't think i'm listening. I not much on confrontation but, I don't think I can just stand back and ignore. What did I do? How do I handle this?

Sorry to hear you are going through this @Concernedgal, this type of situation definitely brings stress in the workplace. I think the only way to handle this type of situation is to report her to upper management, bullying is never okay in any way shape or form. Let them deal with her, I would not confront her yourself.:)

Lord help me. I'm not one for confrontation anyway. I hate confrontation. I just figured she's probably got alot of problems in her life. And she's needs to take it out on somebody. But, isn't it funny... though. It's always people like us they take it out on. :sorry:

My employer is working toward getting facilities and activities together to help us deal with stress. We have a work out room and couches for employees to enjoy during breaks and lunches. I would really like to see a self help class session or a calm room of some sort where you could go in and drink a hot cup of coffee or something in an ambient setting. I am not much into equipment workouts and would appreciate like a yoga room or something that promotes relaxation.
