Social Media?

How do you guys feel about social media? I made the mistake of glancing at Facebook today, and I just went down the rabbit hole. As a general rule, I stay off because it just isn't healthy for me. I either get obsessive about looking at every single thing and responding (that's on a good day), or I start to feel extremely isolated and lonely (that's a bad day). Today was a bad day. I know that what people put on social media isn't real - it's the most polished, perfect version of themselves. But I see groups of people together, and start thinking about how isolated my anxiety makes me. How it keeps me from joining activities and groups. Keeps me away from people who might have otherwise been friends. Makes me feel inadequate. Makes me feel like I'm wasting my life and that I'm worthless because of the time that I've lost. So it seems healthier to stay away from it. And yet so many things happen on social media these days - stuff for my son's school, stuff for church, seems like the only place to keep up with what's going on. So staying away isolates even more. Has anyone else figured this out ? struggled with this and figured it out?
I can relate to everything you wrote .. It's not healthy at all..It's like constantly poking the wound..whatever you see on there is not going to make your day better. I don't have a lot of real life friends on my IG, and those friends I have, are very low key rarely posting anything..but because I am an artist, I follow a lot of artist. So there is still that fear of missing out, like I am not working hard enough, or I am wasting my life . Even though those are artist, not influencers..but they have set some unrealistic expectations ..To make the matters worse, if you want to have any type of business (which I do), you need to be on there 24/7, promoting yourself and constantly posting on IG, on twitter, on FB..

YES. That's exactly how I feel about it. Thankfully, I don't need to use it for business, but I still feel like I'm left out of social things because I don't like social media...

OK but would it help you feel a little less left out, if you posted something from time to time? It doesn't have to be selfie if you don't feel comfortable. It can be a meme, or a joke, or a song you like. I post pictures of my dog and cat :) .It's cute, neutral, you can't get bad comments or be criticized for it, if that worries you. So maybe something like that. Just let the world know you're there to
