Should I find a new job?

This question is really long so prepare yourself. :p

Basicslly I had an interview at a great fast food place, I did the interview, I was freezing cold and shaking during the interview because of my anxiety, I was trying not to have a panic attack. Once my interview was over, another girl came out and gave me a pre employment drug test to go do. (I am only 16...) I went and did the drug test the next day and after about five days the restaurant hadn't called me yet so I called them as asked if they got my results. They said "oh you passed" I was like okay, when can I start work? They said they'd call me. Fast forward four weeks later (I've called once a week each of these weeks I've been waiting) and they still haven't called me. When I call them they just say they'll call me. I was singled out with the drug test, all of my friends that work there didn't have to take one so I'm not really sure what that was about, but back on topic, should I keep trying and waiting or give up and call other places that I put applications in at? I just want my first job, I'm a hard worker and whatever I get I'll be happy with. I don't understand why people that want to work and are excited can't find jobs. I can't get experience if no one will hire me... :/

It doesn't hurt applying to other places. Four weeks is a long time. When I first started looking for a job at 16, the place I really wanted to work at didn't hire me, but not long after I was called by what is now my current job and got in easily. I had to call them a lot too before I actually started working, some places are just like that.

From experience I know some places can be weird as far as hiring goes with taking their time. Back quite some time ago I had applied to a cleaning company and it took a full month until I got the for sure and started, it was annoying but while waiting I applied elsewhere and such. Of course it is up to you but if I was in your place and excited and wanting a first job I would keep my eyes wide open and look into other places and call other places and follow up. It doesn't hurt... And 4 weeks does seem long, especially for fast food. My boyfriend is a manager at a fast food place here the only time I remember it taking long for him to get back to people was when they first opened because they first opened and the other times was just to huge amount of applicants and references to phone. I am not sure if that is what is happening there though.

This place that I'm waiting on is a billion dollar company, they've been there for over five years. Maybe they just don't want to hire me anymore. :/ I'll keep waiting, though. Thanks. :D

Pretty sure you should try another job. The same happened to me, but I didn't try another place. I am not sure exactly the reasons as to why I didn't get contacted.

Unfortunately it's hard to get a job without experience but it's not impossible, you'll jus thave to go through more companies until you find something that works out for you. I've interviewed for 100 companies in my 5-year programming "career" so far and I've only been employed 3 times, it takes time and patience to find the right fit for you. Don't get discouraged, stay diligent!

I would start looking at other places to work.  Four weeks is a long time, especially if they aren't calling you back and won't tell you a definitive answer whether or not they are hiring you.  It's really hard to get a job without any experience but at least your young.  While you're sending in applications and waiting you might be able to do something like Clickbank or sell on Ebay or Etxy in the mean time.  There are also tons of writing sites online that you could try out.  It won't be big or fast cash but it'll be something until you have a steady job.

I know from experience as I used to work in recruitment that places interview in a huge batch, and then hire them when they need to. Be patient, as they probably don't need people yet, but will do when the busy Christmas season crops up or when people call in sick.

I wouldn't worry about the drug test either, as it's usually random. I would keep applying to other places, and as you are only 16, and still at school, they may have people who can do more hours and that's what they need. There are other retail jobs too, so apply now while they are still interviewing.

I'm home schooled so I can work any time they need me to. I told them that when I was at my interview too. :/ I also have my own car.

There is a saying that you should not put your eggs in one basket. I believe it the wise thing for you to do is to broaden your options so you should not just sit and wait on this organization to call you. Even though you have gone thorough the process, there is no guarantee that you will gain employment there.
