It's not bad to treat yourself to that kind of stuff once in awhile. Don't feel guilty you earned it.

I'm sorry you didn't have a good visit. I do hate when that happens.... But on the rational side of it.. the Dr came in, he sees a healthy person on his table.. he sees and hears your anxiety so he treats that and does not feel the need to do any testing which is a good thing. Drs do over test for their own profitable benefit and not the patients .. so this Dr. Didn't, even better. As far as the blood work.. my super sweet Dr sometimes forgets to give me a slip to take to get my blood done and I do too so I just call and ask for it or go in and let the nurse know I needed blood work. You can do that too.

I understand! My doctor seems the same way, he’ll listen but he’s really in and out and it makes it feel like he doesn’t care. I think they really do but they’re just that busy. What I do is pester them. If something isn’t right with me or my meds I just call them or even visit once a week, I sort of make them pay attention.

Hopefully the meds help and you’ll be able to to the doc less.

I’ve been there and honestly the side effects can be harsh. I don’t want to scare you but sometimes that’s how it is. However, when you find the right one it can change your life, I know it did for me.

Well, my experience was positive and I would encourage you to at least try the treatments. I did go on one medication that didn’t work for me and I had to come back off but then they gave me the “right one” and from the first day I was me again. I only had to take for about 4 months and I was all good. It’s just allowing your mind and body the time to reset.

I guess im qorried they won't care to take me off the medication cause they always say ill start you on 5 mg and then we will go to 20 and then to 40 so it makes me feel like its going to keep getting higher or ill just have to take them forever

I can understand that. Being concerned about the medication and then being worried that it’s a life long endeavor certainly makes sense. I was there myself. Truth is, we don’t know how long it will take. The medication is designed to help you balance your brain chemistry, this allows you to feel “normal” and by feeling normal your mind can reset. If you put effort in on your side, relaxation, mindfulness, etc then the process goes even faster. Think of the medication as an assistant in the process. It will calm you enough to let your system reset. You may need it for a few months or years, it all depends on how long it takes your body to get back to normal.

As far as increasing the dose, that’s a fairly normal thing with these types of medication. People react differently to it and for one person 5mg is all they need while another will need 20 to get good results. It’s experimentation. However, as the patient it is you right to deny any of it. If you are feeling good on 5 refuse to go higher. If 10 works for you stay there. It’s is your decision, doctors can say things all they want but they can’t make you do anything. Ultimately it’s up to you but, if it did work, wouldn’t it be worth a shot?
