Do you take any medication? I don’t like to depend to heavily on meds but when I get to a point like where you are at right now, I take a small dose of Ativan. It takes the edge of and relaxes the muscles a bit so you can get some sleep. I also find hot baths really help with pain. I’ve gotten out of bed a 2am and taken a bath because I was in so much pain from anxiety/depression.

it sounds like you're pretty anxious. i know it's hard to believe but that really can cause all of your symptoms... and if you're sleep deprived, that'll only exacerbate things. just try to remind yourself that you are fine. you are alive and you're feeling well enough to post on a message board. if there were something wrong with your heart, you probably wouldn't be.

Kari, I like (and second) this advice.. I approach anxiety management with a gradual, subtle approach. A hot shower can help some.. small dose of medication can help some.. sipping on water, or chamomile tea. Small steps to disarm the suffering. A bike ride, maybe some exercise to work out nervous energy etc. It's an imperfect process, but it usually helps ~

Hope u feel better 7495..

Hi Kari,
I’ve been at this point before where you think you are having a heart attack but in actuality it’s anxiety! When this happened to me I went to therapy and also started taking a low dosage of citalopram, which helped me a lot!

I agree with the advice others have given. I know this feeling very well myself. I've had it too many times to count. Personally, I've realized that it tends to occur when I've not had adequate sleep and / or I've consumed too much caffeine. I had too much caffeine today, and I'm feeling it all. Palpitations, reflux, jittery / shaky, anxious, etc.

I agree. I’m feeling it today myself. It’s been 2 years of me suffering this, and i’ve learned so very much in that time to control it etc, keeping busy, exercise, tea, books. Sleep is also so important, as well as staying hydrated. Before i know it, i’ve not had enough sleep or i havnt had any water for several hours, and i think, why do i feel like shite again, but after a load of water, i start feeing a ton better. And nothing wrong with climbing into bed super early, to feel fresh. The only trick when you put your head down, is to let go of your worries, like a magnet dropping it’s charge, and relax all my face muscles, i tend to frown and be all up tight, then i think to myself, relax, drop it, because i know if i dont, the sleep deprivation will make things so much worse, and thats the last thing i want.
