Hi all,

I haven’t posted here in a while as my health anxiety had disappeared but unfortunately it’s returned.

By chance, yesterday while I was taking a picture at the back of my hair, I discovered a mole on the back-top of my scalp that I’d never seen before.
It’s about 6mm estimate in diameter, it’s brown on the outside and a bit of skin colour in the middle and I can’t make out the shape because my hair is in the way, it doesn’t look irregular at least.

The thing is I’ve never seen it before, I’ve never examined that area of my head before now so I don’t know if I’ve always had it.
I just assumed I must’ve had it but I googled it thinking it would be harmless and I fell into the spiral of anxiety seeing all the melanoma results, so now I’m very scared.

Does anyone have any advice for things like this? I’ve had melanoma scares before but this one seems real.

Best bet is to see your dermatologist. Have you called for an appointment yet ?

Not yet, I’m going to keep an eye on it in case it grows and in the next week I’ll go. Right now I’m just feeling terrified as usual with my anxiety.

Why wait though if you are terrified? You'll get your answer from the dermatologist. If it is something to be concerned about letting it grow isn't a good thing.

I’ve been before to have moles checked immediately as I’ve found them and I’m always told to come back in a week or two to see if it gets bigger. I’m hoping I can persuade them to get it removed immediately when I go.
