Hey all. I posted on another forum but no one saw. I’m having extreme anxiety and need help. Background about me: I’m a 25 year old female and I’ve been tested positive for lupus many times in the past but it has not affected me that much luckily. The last 2 weeks I’ve had stomach pains and nausea, no appetite, headaches and shortness of breathe. I went to the doctor and over the last 2 weeks they have drawn my blood 3 times. Every time my wbc was around 16.1 and my platelets are a startling 648.. they are sending me to an oncologist to be checked out. I’m so scared. I’ve been trying to be positive and tell myself it could be a number of things but my mind races straight to cancer. I know it’s unlikely because I’m young but that doesn’t mean impossible. I just really need some words of advice on how to get through all the waiting and everything. They are going to call me tomorrow and schedule an appointment for a first visit and labs. Please if anyone has advice or something reassuring please respond. All of my friends tell me to stop worrying and that I’m fine but I have a bad feeling

The bad feeling is probably anxiety. Until your appointment, try to keep moderately busy and avoid situations that could cause additional anxiety.

Wishing you well!

Hey how did your appointment go

It went well. They took my blood again. They keep saying my wbc is high. The doctor said that while it is high he thinks it is a low chance of cancer because he usually sees the wbc in the 20s when it’s that. He suggested I have low iron and to take some medicine and follow up in 2 weeks. Thanks for asking!

Yeah the oncologist was who I saw and they said that so I guess it’s good news! My wbc was about 15.2. He said if it went up to 20 he would do a bone aspiration because then he would think it might be cancer but for right now he’s not that concerned if it stays around that number or below
