Rectal Foreign Body

I keep thinking there is a foreign body in my anus or rectum and I can’t remember if I put it in my anus. if there actually was a foreign body in my anus or rectum would I feel anything and can I have a foreign body in my rectum without any symptoms? I was holding a Bobby pin in my hand and I can’t remember where I put it, so I think it has gone into my anus or rectum, do I need to get an X-ray or any other medical imaging even though I don’t have any symptoms?

I would say the Bobby pin is most likely anywhere but your rectum. And yes, you would feel something.

If you don’t normally put thing there, then no. Not from what you have described. I am sure you would remember doing so and if you didn’t, you would feel it.

Just curious, out of all the places, why do you think your rectum is a place it could end up?

I would imagine when sitting on the toilet, if you have to go, then you would feel it more than any other time. If just a pin, chances are it would come back out as you go. Dislodge itself. You might just be feeling discomfort in that area. Which can happen. That does not mean there is anything inside of you. If you did go to a hospital I imagine they would simply check things out by having a look. Not with an x-ray. More with their own eyes. Just to see if they can see anything at all. You mention the pin. More a case of how it would get from your hand to your anus. If it was sticking into the lining you would certainly know all about it. Other than that it would simply come back out when you sit on the toilet.
