I have seen this floating around in the past but apparently there is mounting evidence recently. I went through the article in a panic but saw that it said your chances might be higher if you had a bad case and if it was when you were a teen. I had a BAD case when I was a teen and now I’m so terrified. I am convinced I will get it

If all the people that had mono as a teen (myself included) ended up with MS we would be seeing exploding cases. You said you read that the chance might be higher. Might be. And by how much? 10%? 50%? You can’t go back and change the past, and there is no crystal ball to predict the future, so what good will worrying about it do?

I saw people talking about this study recently, and it’s sort of been in the back of my head. I’m still not sure if my case was standard, granted it was the sickest I’d ever been, or if it was bad, bad. I remember being exhausted for a week and a half with the worst throat pain I’d ever had. I’ve read into the things EBV infections can be associated with and it’s given me anxiety in the past. I always remind myself that tons of people get mono, and EBV is only a small factor of many in the diseases linked to it.

I think OP is referring to getting an active infection from it.

Yes I understand and most people have had an active Epstein Barr infection in their lives
