I very well could have bumped into something and can’t recall but there’s a huge purple bruise that’s been on the back of my thigh for about 5 days. Doesn’t hurt. I don’t remember hitting myself. But I was running around packing for vacation (and could have knocked into something) about 5 days ago and noticed it while I was away. I do know bruises that appear out of nowhere and don’t go away are bad bad news!! Has anyone gotten anxious over this?

I've gotten anxious over this a bunch but so far it's never turned out to be anything other than "I must have run into something and forgotten about it."

Bruising that might possibly be a concern are when they are found all over the body, not in one specific place. Also, blood cancers typically cause overwhelming fatigue due to anemia, fatigue where one sleeps all day and getting up to go to another room is a major chore.

I certainly wouldn’t give it a thought.

Bruises take at least a week to go away in my experience. They start out black/green to purple to yellow and then gone. Be patient and give it at least a week to start fading.

Yes I've got a huge bruise on my right arm. I must have given it some wallop because there's even a visible lump right in the middle of it, but for the life of me I can't remember what I hit it on!

I'm not worrying about it though because unlike my other symptoms it obviously has a known cause and is very "normal" - as in, it's just a bruise caused by whacking my arm on something and so obviously doesn't signify anything sinister.

This happens to me a good bit. It bothers me sometimes and makes me a bit anxious, but I’ve gotten good at not dwelling on random bruises. I usually just keep watch over them and remind myself that I’m constantly lifting and holding boxes and things at work. Usually they’re gone within a week or two so far.

Funny story though. A few years back, I was recovering from mono. This was also when I smoked (weed). I had just smoked a bowl and remembered seeing on google that you should go to the doctor if you have mono and see random bruising. I saw a bruise on my arm and freaked out and went to urgent care high as a kite. I explained my situation, and they did a blood test. The whole time, I’m just thinking, “this nurse knows I’m high and something bad is gonna happen.” They came back and said my blood results looked great, and I was on my way. Looking back on it, I’m sure they knew I was high and a hypochondriac. They were nice and helpful though.
