Rabies shots

Hello. I've had health anxiety for years and rabies is my top concern. My absolute worst fear came true when a bat hit me in the face a few days ago during daylight hours. I called public health, was honest about my health anxiety and fears and they still said I needed the shots due to the rabies risk from bats in the area. So I went and started the hrig and vaccines. Everyone was very nice and for the 1st time in my life I was honest with them about my health anxiety and fear of drs and nurses. Well, I slept great afterwards and woke up with no symptoms from the shots....so here comes my anxiety back. What if because I was honest they all lied to me and just gave me saline shots or something else? I'm so scared that me being honest lead them to lie to me. I have a huge distrust of drs and nurses and a massive fear of them and now I'm back to being a mess.

The answer would be no. They gave you what you went for. That much you have to accept. I assume every test you ever had done, you thought they gave the wrong results too? This is similar kind of thinking. What if they told me I was OK but I really wasn't? These are things they do not do. No idea what it would take to make you believe that. Simply because you don't trust them.

This is beyond HA and into the realm of paranoia. I would strongly recommend talking to a mental health professional about your concerns here.

The answer would be no. They gave you what you went for. That much you have to accept. I assume every test you ever had done, you thought they gave the wrong results too? Simply because you don't trust them.

Thank you. That is true. The root of all my issues is distrust. I have a whole trauma back story as to why, which I've gone to therapy off and on for over the years. I think after this I need to find another therapist. Thank you for the reassurance. I do appreciate it.

I will be. Thus experience has made me realize it's time to go back to therapy. I had a trauma experience with drs years ago that caused me to have a distrust and fear of them. This has just been a hard experience on me as it involved me facing 2 of my biggest fears head on.

Giving you nothing benefits the doctors not at all. They don't benefit financially by giving you nothing. On the other hand, they could lose everything, including their license and a tons of money if they gave you nothing and pretended they gave you something. It's an action that, on a very basic level, makes no sense, even if they are evil.

Thank you. That is very true. I get so spun up sometimes. This is just my worst fears all culminating into one event. But I think it's actually good bc I've been debating going back to my therapist but kept putting it off. This made me realize I need to go back and finish the work.
