Possible bug bites..,

Found two matching red welts on front of each calf a couple of days ago, not itchy, just a bit raised, about half an inch across.
Concerned so I went to walk in clinic today and they gave a cream for 10 days and took a blood test for Lyme disease (though they don’t think I have that, no bull’s eye around either spot). Told me not to worry but of course (!) I can’t relax, developing somatic symptoms on and off e.g. my regular breathing panic attacks, itches all over. These go away when I am sufficiently distracted by say, texting w friends.
Big life stuff going on simultaneously and I am getting more convinced all the time that instead of feeling the bona fide feelings over these things that I turn to the health anxiety instead. Pretty good self-awareness I think - but it still doesn’t make the health anxiety go away. :(
Will post about blood test results.
thx for reading.

I am sure you are fine, but our lovely anxiety makes everything so much worse. Try to stay positive and keep us posted.

I actually went through a lyme disease scare, it was bad. I had the bullseye rash and everything. I ran to the doctor and the doctor said it was not that, and I could get the blood test if I wanted. I didn’t, and the bullseye went away. It was just a nasty reaction to a bug bite. Not a tick.

I had a similar thing happen about a month ago, with a bite, bulls eye rash, headache, fever. Went to the doc (who didn't test but said it looked like lyme), and got doxycycline for it. (The bite was very red, itchy, and had gotten significantly bigger over 3 days, by the way. Doesn't sound like what you have to me). From what I understand, early lyme is pretty much always curable. It's not a bad idea to keep an eye on the bites while you wait for the tests, but it's best to manage anxiety symptoms. Just try to remember that even on the off chance the blood tests come up with something, you've caught it early, and it's all very treatable!
