Pain between shoulder blades- terrified of lung cancer

Hi

I have been having pain between my shoulder blades and at times radiating down my arm. Off and on- was bad a few months ago then went away now really bad the last few days and getting worse. In my neck too! I just went for my yearly physical and all of my blood work is good. I didn’t mention this to the DR as it was OK then.
I am now in sheer panic mode. I went online this morning and it said that this kind of pain can be a specific type of lung cancer and is often the only symptom - no coughing etc. Also a common form of lung cancer in young women. I am so scared. Too scared to go get an x Ray. All I can think is what if I ignored the pin when it was happening months ago and now it’s too late. Also I read the pain for lung cancer is worse at night and of course I just feel asleep and got a pAin and my eyes opened and I started to panic again.

I have a history of health anxiety but it actually has been a bit better over the last couple of years. This is my first bad bad bout in a while, and I am convinced this time it’s really it! It just feels different and I know something is wrong.

I did go for a massage today and the therapist said my shoulder was so tight she could barely move it! It got better for a bit after but now it’s back and worse- and at rest and at night. I have to call my mind down and just can’t!

Hi and welcome JJA. Please remember that health anxiety convinces you each and every time that this particular ailment is the real deal. You've got two good signs that this is a typical health anxiety scare. 1) you just took a physical and the blood work is good and 2) the massage indicated that your pain is muscular not lungular (if that's a word) . If you can get less scared, those muscles will loosen up, produce less pain and you'll be on your way past this current health crisis.
