Hey everyone im Shayne, I'm new to the site. I've been living with SEVERE hypochondriasis for almost 10 years, for a while it kind of dissipated but now it's back with a vengeance..i really need someone i can talk to about this ****, Ive convinced myself I have a PE, a brain A word, and I worry about heart arrythmias constantly. The first two i put abbreviations because saying it out loud or typing it litterly strikes fear into my soul and will trigger panic, when i was reading the Posts on here I seen a god forsaken "at home stroke recovery" advertisement and I became convinced it was a sign of whats to come..but I used to have a friend a few years back I talked to daily about symptoms and our anxiety dilemmas, it helped drastically..is there anyone here who would be willing to be my kind of... "Ailment Allie" lol, it's the term I came up with for it

Shayne, I think there are a lot of people on here that can relate to your issues. I, too, suffer from heath anxiety, thinking I have this or that and it has not yet come to pass. I think you can find a lot of Ailment Allie’s on here. Welcome.

Hey Shane I will try to be your ailment Ali. I myself have suffered with extreme severe health anxiety for approximately 20 years and as you said just saying the words sometimes will strike extreme imminent fear into me. I've had everything from mad cow disease, aneurysms, and the plague. really pisses me off when people make fun of people like us because I would not wish this upon my worst enemy. but shoot me a message or something if you want to talk man

Hi Shayne! So, in the past 10 years, what do you think you did to dissipate the panic attacks? It sounds like you have a bunch of triggers. Did you work with a therapist that specialized in anxiety and panic? If you did, I would go back to it.

After a years of having hypochondria I got into opiates really heavy, then soon after heroin. Along with using being on benzos everyday it was practically non exsistant as long as I was using. Just recently I got treatment for the heroin addiction and I've been completely clean from everything for about 2 mo that, that's when it started coming back and it seems like it's getting worse each day

Hi, Shayne! When you use drugs, prescribed and non, it covers up the psychological and ultimately the physical effects of anxiety, depression, panic, etc. The prescribed drugs are meant to be used for a short time. Just enough for the intensity of the anxiety, or whatever you are experiencing, to subside, so you can do the deep work of accepting and letting go of the psychological trauma you have inside. Your symptoms will get worse, unfortunately, now that you don’t have any of the buffering effects of medication or drugs. Stay the course, and stay clean. Seek a rehab center for your drug dependency and seek a therapist who specializes in anxiety, depression and panic. The heroin and other opioids will only intensify your symptoms if you get back on and then off it and seesaw back on it. That becomes a vicious cycle, so don’t go there. There is light at the end of every chapter in our lives. This is just one of those chapters you have to go through and complete. You will have many to create, but you have to do the work. Never give up. Reach out for help! Take care!
