Honestly I don’t know the difference but this is what came up...

An anxiety attack, people may feel fearful, apprehensive, may feel their heart racing or feel short of breath, but it's very short lived, and when the stressor goes away, so does the anxiety attack. Panic attack on the other hand doesn't come in reaction to a stressor. It's unprovoked and unpredictable.Apr 15, 2008

Welcome anita, if you don't mind can you tell us how you felt during the attack, did something set it off? Is this the first one you've had?

Welcome @anita g to the forum. Anxiety and panic attack differentiate themselves in intensity and trigger, as @AMcSwain mentioned. Are you aware of any triggers in your current situation?

I would explain anxiety as nervous, tense feeling and feeling of expecting something bad to happen. It can be manifested with periodical bodily sensations of tachycardia, not being able to breathe with full lungs etc...Sometimes it can be provoked by some stress (fight with a friend, conflict at work, waiting in a line), but it can exist without particular reason. If it last most of the day, the it is called general anxiety. Panic attack comes abruptly and is very, very intense feeling of fear and feeling that you are going to faint or stay without breath and of course intense tachycardia. It last 5-10 minutes sometimes little more, but can't be generalized as anxiety.
