so we were told we don't need masks in the U.S. - basically because they didn't have any available for us.
Now they are advising us to wear anything - t-shirts, scarves, etc.
What's the story.
Scientific data said it wasn’t needed with social distancing. Personally, I think it was because they didn’t want to create a nationwide panic. Which happened anyway
Trust me, in a shop with my half my face covered I am baked alive. Some people wear them. Others don't. I have my snood. Covers up to the eyes. Not fool proof. A little something anyway. Funny that yesterday I saw a woman wheeling a pram. She had a mask covering her mouth. Person in pram didn't have mask or even a coat on. I was seriously thinking ' why is she even bothering to wear her mask '. If she is not protecting the kid in the pram, she will still come down with it if the kid was to pick it up.
Some say its because there is not enought for medics
This south corean expert say that in corea a lot of people use it and work. Also when u use it, DONT touch your face.
My understanding is that it's because they really aren't that great for this type protection, but it's better to have some protection than none at all. I think they also didn't want people to think they could go out and do whatever because the masks would protect them, and social distancing was no longer necessary. Given how people have responded, I'd say that was a fair concern if it was the case.
