Lockdown Bingo / Street Party

This is going on outside the house right now. This has become a familiar sight here in Dublin since all this began. Social distancing? What is social distancing. None of that going on out there. They made it out like it was going to be bingo for old folks who can't leave their houses. Nothing like that at all. Wouldn't mind by the wind and rain here all day was bad. This just shows one side of some people and what they do at times like this. People out there are young. Few older people simply went back in when they heard any sign of music and the rain began again. Can't win with people like these. Curious to hear if this is happening in any other countries? Has become big over here during the lockdown.

Yes, the South especially. It's like the government wants to test the waters with the most deplorable area of America. Parties in Atlanta. Alabama, where I am, announced the opening of Splash Adventure on the 30th of May. Parties and barbeques in Texas, no masks. Beaches, no masks. Nobody is wearing them at this point in the South. Not even in heavily crowded areas. It's all very.. selfish to me.

During this whole thing, I’ve still done the same thing I did before. I’m a stay at home mom so nothing much really changed for me. I still saw my parents, my mother-in-law, my brothers and their kids. My girls knew nothing different than what they were used to other than my oldest not being able to go to school. (Which she didn’t care that she couldn’t go). Life is slowly getting back to the new normal here in Ohio. People are still wearing masks and taking precautions, but everyone is starting to live again. I don’t want to argue, but I don’t see it as selfish. We’re human. We want to be able to live our lives. If I can’t see my friends and family, to me that isn’t living. Do I believe we should do things to keep each other as healthy as possible? Absolutely! But I refuse to let this make me afraid to step out of my house and not spend time with the people I love, doing that things that we thrive on.

This is not about friends and family. It was meant to be for older people as they are not allowed go many places. Meant to be only bingo. Everybody sits in their own garden as the numbers are read out. But it turned into something else. Most people out there I never saw before. Have lived in this area my whole life. All with bags of alcohol. Then on comes the music. Bingo caller now turned DJ. The older people simply went back into their houses. Obviously pissed off and what was happening. After all it was meant to be an evening for them. That was the part I did not like. These strangers appearing. Friends of others from the road. Then they had their outdoor party. Place littered with empty bottles this morning. Time and a place for everything. Be with family. No problems with that. Is a choice we all make. See friends too if you want to. Blocking a road and blasting music until after 10pm? Not for me at all. Not the right time or place for such a thing.

Ooohhh! I’m sorry! I misunderstood. No, that is definitely not going on where I live. That’s disrespectful, I agree.
