Lexapro withdraw ö

Hey, y'all I hope everyone is well. I have been off lexapro for 3 months now and it seems things are getting worse and by worse I mean my sleep, my aggression, I'm manic, etc...all that fun stuff. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any experience on how long it usually takes for your body to fully adjust from the medication. I was on 20mg for a year

I am on lexapro 10mg for 6 months now, and honestly, beside good sleep I don't too much of a difference in my anxiety during the day, I am still not where I want to be.

What time of the day you are taking it?

I am taking before I go to sleep.

I take 20mg of lexapro in the morning and it seems to be helpful throughout the day. Does your prescription say to take yours at night? Seems like it wouldn't last until the next day. But decent sleep is very important and if it does the trick, I'd find another medication or take (with doctor's prescription) during the day or take the lexapro 10mg at night and 10mg each morning.

Mine is instructed to take it at night, right before sleeping, I am not taking any anxiety medication in the morning.

If you are discontinuing, you should taper down slowly. 20mg should be reduce to 15mg for a week or two, then 10mg, 5mg, then discontinue. You may have discontinued too quickly or it is possible that you should remain on the medication at a lower dose. Best to discuss a plan with your prescribing doctor.

No, I've been off the medication for 4 months....I'm not taking it anymore.

Your body should be fully adjusted by now. Typically with in two to three weeks the mediation should be out of your system.

The thing is, your body has probably adjusted. Just not what you wanted. There was a reason you were in medication in the first place. Sometimes it is a life long commitment. I stopped for a week, didn’t like how I was feeling and started again.

While you sort this out, consider taking Benadryl at bedtime to see if that will prevent you from losing any more sleep. As a note of encouragement, you’re most likely not feeling as well simply due to sleep disruption.
