Hi guys,

I’m new to this forum and just wanted a bit reassurance. My hypochondria has been hell the past 2 months. I first broke out in hives on my skin which settled but now I’ve noticed my left eye is quite hazy. I panicked and went for an eye test, and they said my eyes were healthy after doing all necessary checks. Can anxiety actually cause this on a daily basis? I seemed to be on edge and obsessing about it every second of every day and seem to be more focused on things if that makes any sense. Any response would be appreciated

I just responded to another user about this issue. I started having the same problem a year ago. I got a bunch of tests done and it turns out it is actually a common side effect from severe anxiety. The part of your brain that focuses on anxiety is located mostly behind your left eye and when feeling stress it can cause your eye to feel blurry and numb. There is no cure but it helps to just forget about it. Just remember that when you get your eyes checked they can see if there is any abnormal pressure behind the eyes, so you would know for a fact if you had a tumor or aneurysm. If they said you are healthy you don’t. If it is one of your biggest fears I would just suggest getting an eye exam once a year because people without anxiety need to do it too just like a yearly check up. It helps ease anxiety and helps you stay on top of your health! Feel better!
