Thread starter #1
my doctor just put me on celexa for my anxiety and panic disorder. i google everything before i take it, which i probobly shouldnt do. i think i scare myself into a panic episode but all the "common side effects" are things i go thru NOW without the drug :( i dont know if my doctor is just retarded or what?! just would love to hear from people that have taken it and if it helped or not. thanks everyone!

I haven’t been on that one specifically but I’ve been on Zoloft before. I can say with that one I did the same thing googling symptoms and I didn’t even end up having like 99% of the symptoms that the internet said I would. So I wouldn’t worry about it that much and your doctor recommend it to you so should be fine.

thanks for the feedback steven. maybe i get more anal about the side effects becuz ive been on alot of anti depressants and ive always gotten sick from them. like i always tell my doctor and everyone else, your trading a symptom for a side effect and it doesnt matter becuz i always feel like ****! with my anxiety and panic disorder it also effects my stomach and blood pressure, im very leary of taking anything :( i hate medication! i did take one, it was paxil, and that actually worked for me but i gained 60 pounds on it :( and that just made me depressed. its a vicious cycle...idk what to do anymore :( i appreciate you posting tho!

Those are just all the possible side effects. I just experienced excessive tiredness on zoloft (which is similar to Celexa). If you have lots of side effects best tell your doctor and they'll put you on something else.

Celexa is very similar to both paxil and lexapro. I put on 6 pounds of pure muscle on paxil (maybe not) and have only had the side effect of a runny nose (which is listed on the side effects list for lexapro) from the lexapro. It's like, a runny nose side effect? Really? Give me a break. I'm still on lexapro and the trade off of a runny nose for the benefits I get from the lexapro is well worth it. We take these medications because we're messed up with our anxiety. I think some side effects get misinterpreted when the actual cause is the anxiety.

i love your posts triceps :) but on this one id have to disagree. ive been on many meds and it seems i get the "common side effects" which are actually the same or worse than my anxiety and i need to go off or switch meds. yeah, i could handle a runny nose but when your having heart palpitations, tunnel vision, extreme stomach bloating, feeling very anxious...thats what i wont do. i already feel that way...and the meds make it worse. ive been thru like 15 different medications. but since im so sensitive to even ibuprophen or nsaids, they think this is why i have trouble with the anti depressants :( so ....hoping this calexa works? idk. i havent taken it yet. i got it on monday or tuesday and i just keep looking at the bottle...."like what ARE you going to do to me" :( should i take you or not? its like a back and forth in my mind. :'(

scharley, it sure is scary. There's such uncertainty in both the side effects and the helpfulness the celexa might provide that a clear cut risk vs. reward decision is difficult to make. Do you think you can get by without an anti-depressant? If so, don't take it. If not, maybe this is the anti-depressant that your body can tolerate. (with only a runny nose to deal with). Feel confident that you can disagree with me anytime.
