So, how are feeling today? I had covid in March 2021. I am on the fence of getting the vaccine. A few people I know have had pretty bad reactions. I have A LOT of allergies and I am concerned that I may have allergic reaction. I wish there was a covid vaccine that was like the flu vaccine. Just a dead virus instead of mRNA.

Also, update!

So, after doing rapid lateral flow tests in Scotland, if you test positive you also need to go for a PCR test at a testing facility, so off I went last night to get it. The testing centre was super clean, everyone followed social distancing, everything was done via QR code, was great. At 05:30 I got my positive result back, booooo.

Started work at 08:30, had a team call at 09:30 and was told to go away and binge Netflix and drink tea, haha, I work for a lovely design company, so I know I'm very lucky in that aspect.

Been feeling achy again today, and my chest is a little sore, nothing too bad yet, but I have been having random cold sweats, and my taste has went, so that's annoying! I imagine tomorrow and Wednesday might be a bit worse, but so far, so good! This isn't the experience for many though, and I wouldn't want anyone else to fall ill, so I still highly recommend the vaccine. You'll feel mildly ill for a couple days, which is so much better than the potential worst case scenario!

Had a call from the test and trace service aswell asking who I've been in contact with, luckily they don't think I was infectious on Wednesday, my infectious period would've started from Friday once the virus properly took hold apparently, so luckily only my boyfriend has to isolate with me, and he's loving life, camping out in another room away from me, getting to play his PC all night and day, haha! The NHS have been incredibly on top of things, which is lovely, so I feel in very safe hands.

Sorry, seen this after I posted my above response! My boyfriend had it last year at the same time as me, and when he got his vaccines a few months ago he had really bad flu symptoms for 2/3 days, then was right as rain! He had to take a couple days off work, but it was all paid so it wasn't a big deal thankfully. Allergies are really uncommon with the vaccine, super super rare, so try not to panic about that too much! He's allergic to peanuts, eggs, and fish, so luckily no reactions there! They usually keep you in the facility for 10/15 mins after to make sure you're feeling okay anyways, so if you had a reaction you'd be in safe hands straight away!

Is this really the place for such a debate? At the very least, there is a COVID-19 subforum. No one is going to concede on way or the other. This is an ongoing issue, and it never really gets anywhere.
I've never seen an an internet argument change anyone's mind. Ever.

Cool, I'm a PC gamer too! What does he play?

Facts, in general, don't change people's minds.

I don't care about changing the mind's of the people who post misinformation; I'm more concerned with exposing it as misinformation.

He's really into this game called Escape from Tarkov! Check it out if you haven't already, the work that's went into the game mechanics is insane.
AriaRen how are you feeling today?
Hey Jennifer, thank you for asking <3 I've posted an update a couple of messages above yours, but basically much the same as yesterday, really sleepy too, just woke up from a nap!

I agree with that, misinformation is dangerous. I'm incredibly careful to not let my personal actions get in the way of the facts I put across and support. The most reliable source of information is always going to be your local health service though, so if anyone is questioning anything that they're seeing online, or they have any questions, always ask your doctor, don't rely on information you see here or on any other forum etc.

Agreed. It's amazing to me that "ask your doctor" is a controversial stance on something like this, but here we are.

It's not even about facts, necessarily. People generally don't want to believe anything different than what they think they know. This has been a thing since the WWW has existed, and I'm sure it was a thing long before then as well.

Moral of the story? Stay away from concerts and packed places. You took a big risk and now you have Covid. Heck I would not go near a concert. Even if you gave me free tickets. And offered to pay me cash to go. I would see it as a stupid risk to take. May as well call it for what it is. It was dumb as feck.
I went to 30 concerts over the summer. I went to 2 last weekend.

I'd prefer to not have to wade through any of this bullshit when trying to see updates from AriaRen. You know, the person who started the thread to document her time with COVID.

I'm all for people chiming in with their opinions and experiences, but that person is just trying to stir drama, it's sad. Makes for a fun read through the thread though

Mini update, it's nearly 3am and I can't sleep because I'm so wheezy. Breathing fine, watch is saying my oxygen is still up at 98% (but I mean, it's a watch, who knows), but I'm just uncomfy. Chest feels kinda like when you're just getting over a chest infection, and you're sore from all the coughing etc, yet I'm not coughing...it's very odd. Watched 5 episodes of 8 out of 10 Cats there, gonna watch some YouTube and try to sleep. Will update tomorrow, day 4 incomingggg.

I must be dead. And I don't even know it! It's like a Twilight Zone episode. I'm the Anxiety Community ghost.

No idea what you're on about to be honest, which is becoming a running theme. Cute gif though.

I don't mind some moderate banter here and there, but it's just ridiculous at this point. Maybe it's just me. Haha.

Sounds uncomfortable for sure, but not awful. I hope it finds its way out of your system soon!

Yeno, I know the UK is getting a lot of slack at the moment, but I'm super impressed with the support I've been offered during all this. Local council just called to check if I was eligible for a £500 grant (I knew I wouldn't be as I receive full pay for sickness, but amazing offering to make people's wages up if they only get SSP), and to ask if I need shopping/medication delivered or any help paying gas/electric during my isolation period. Luckily I have family who are able to drop things off, and my gas and electric are all paid quarterly, so good on that front, but it's amazing support for those who need it.
