Hey everyone

Been feeling crappy over the past 24 hours, so decided to do some lateral flow tests and turns out, ya gal has Covid! So fun fact, I haven't been vaccinated yet, but I did also catch covid back in February 2020, so apparently those pesky little viruses love me. Thought I'd document the next week or so here, to let people know what it's like, because I hiiighly recommend getting the vaccine. My boyfriend, whom I live with, is double vaxxed and doesn't have it, so they work!!

I went to a concert on Monday, felt fine for days, went into my office on Thursday, with only 2 other people, wore a mask, used antibac multiple times, etc.

I had a horrid migraine yesterday (Saturday), so kept my fluids topped up and rested in the dark all evening, then today I woke up feeling a bit better. Had a bit of a scratchy throat, and had some tests handy, so figured I'd just check, and voila! 2 veryyyyy positive tests. Not feeling too bad so far, but this is only the start, so my anxiety is definitely a little heightened. First time I had it, I was outttt the game for about 4 days, it was horrid, atrocious aches, banging headache, could barely open my eyes for days, only got up to go to the bathroom, I was still living at home at the time and my dad had to come in and change the wet washcloth on my forehead multiple times a day to cool me down, so anticipating that and worse this time round. Funfunfun.

Oh no! Well, if you've had it once already, this time round shouldn't be as bad.

Feb. 20th means that you likely have little to no antibodies leftover, so your mileage may vary but probably not worse than the last time. You'll want to stop getting symptomatic Covid since each time you get it you are exposing yourself the possibility of long term effects. After you recover in a few days, I'd wait for four months, get an mRA vax, then wait another four months and get a second.

Good luck and please keep us updated!

Yep, known it's highly unlikely to have any effect, but hoping my body can deal with it like it did before!

Yep, in Scotland we get the vaccines about 8 weeks apart, so will get it in a few months, was going to get it after Christmas etc anyways, so suppose this just solidifies the need.

Thank you <3

This is what I'm hoping for, know I'm not going to get out scotfree, but hoping it's only just as bad as before! Crazy how smart our bodies are.

Moral of the story? Stay away from concerts and packed places. You took a big risk and now you have Covid. Heck I would not go near a concert. Even if you gave me free tickets. And offered to pay me cash to go. I would see it as a stupid risk to take. May as well call it for what it is. It was dumb as feck.

Aw she's young, she's not in any danger. I wouldn't go near a concert either, but I'm in my forties.

Unfortunately COVID doesn't discriminate as much as we'd like to think. Glad you seem to be doing okay, though, OP. Get vaccinated when you can so you don't have to go through this again! Feel better!

Bit of back story on the forum. Was only about 2 months back we had people telling others they were putting lives at risk by not getting vaccinated. Even had one say that any mother who refuses the vaccine is a bad parent. It was that sort of vibe on the forum. Wondering what they all make of this? They were quick to jump on unvaccinated people back then.

I'd agree with all of that. But I assumed that OP was too young to have been called up for our national (Scotland) vaccination programme yet. I did not discern any "anti-vax" sentiment in her posts, especially since she said her boyfriend had already had it.

People that don't get vaccinated are putting other people's lives at risk. If Aria started this thread by declaring that she thinks its her right not to get vaccinated or encouraging others to not get vaccinated, I'd react differently. Instead, she wrote this: Thought I'd document the next week or so here, to let people know what it's like, because I hiiighly recommend getting the vaccine. My boyfriend, whom I live with, is double vaxxed and doesn't have it, so they work!!

That's a different attitude. Of course I'm not going to "jump on" someone acknowledging a mistake and encouraging others to learn from their lesson.

Oh!!! I get it!! So it's only if you are anti covid vaccination ( and let us be clear because anti covid vaccine does not deem one antivax) that you should be attacked. Not attending a concert without a COVID vaccination, taking the chance you may be a spreader or that you yourself could get it and give it to others. Got it!! XD

Not at all. That's poor behavior. The difference is learning from your behavior and doing the right thing, or not learning from your behavior (or science, or anything) and continuing to spread misinformation and endangering the lives of other people. It's not difficult to parse that out at all.

I dont know for a fact, but I'd guess that Aria probably also thought she had antibodies because of the Covid misinformation that gets spread around. For instance, I've seen the "if you have had Covid then you don't need the vaccine because antibodies" posted on this forum and I've seen you supporting it. Glad to see that Aria is waking up. Good for her.

And actually she did state she wasn't vaccinated and didn't plan on vaccinating because she didn't know the effects it might have on getting pregnant.
Oh well that's dumb. That's a conspiracy theory that's going around the UK at the moment. Don't know about the US.

Just to let everyone know, in Scotland you need to be double vaxxed or test negative before any concerts, I tested negative the night before and day of, and I knew it was a risk, but they're legally allowed, so I'm not annoyed at the fact I got it. I WFH most days too, I just had to go in to get mail from our studio one day, I do it once a month, so it's just plain bad luck really, could happen to anyone! I wear surgical masks and sanitise everything, I probably just got it traveling to and from the office :) I'm definitely not antivax, haha,

I'm not dumb, I was aware of the risks, everyone there either tested negative or was vaxxed, it's just how the cookie crumbles. This deffo isn't a post to argue about the risk, was more just to document how it can affect people, I know a lot of people are super worried about it so figured I'd share my experience with it, whether it puts people's minds at rest or I get super unwell and it makes some people think about getting vaccinated, then great!
