Just heard this on NPR this morning. It's NPR so it has to be right. Right??

I'll believe it when I see it, as with anything related to numbers. Not because I doubt experts and their skills, but because even they can't know for sure. Hell, a lot of people did believe early this summer that it would virtually disappear soon, and we see what's happened since then.

The late 19 the to 20th century pandemics all lasted 2 years. Russian flu, Spanish flu, Asian flu, Hong Kong flu. I always figured this would be a 2 year pandemic.

I think this fall and winter will be hard. Right now, in the city I was born in, they can't even perform any surgery unless they think that not having that surgery will mean you will die in a three day period. Broke your leg? Can't help you. Need life saving cancer surgery? Can't help you. The ICU and ER are so full of unvaccinated Covid patients that nothing that isn't an immediate life or death situation can be addressed. You know, just like when it's flu season.

Is that in Ontario?

‘COVID party’ send Edson residents to Edmonton ICU
“It’s just unbelievable.”
A number of Edson residents are in Edmonton ICUs following a gathering to try and get COVID-19– as a way to achieve natural immunity. One virologist explains why that’s a dangerous idea.

What kind of skoolling to peple get up here in the Great White North?

The unvaccinated are killing people.
Looks like they are mainly killing themselves.

It's talking about the measures that were put in place as a result of 9/11. Similarly, the majority of Americans who are now up in arms about Covid protocols were very willing to see the Patriot Act enforced. It's almost like the issue isn't actually freedom or what freedoms we are willing to compromise in relation to a death count. It's almost like there are other things in play here... I wonder what they could be?
I don’t agree with some of the Covid protocols….but I also don’t agree with the Patriot Act either. ”Other things at play” applies to both sides. And there are extremes on both sides. My opinion but it appears there is a complete disregard by many in power to ignore natural immunity in order to push vaccines and lockdowns.
If we deny people the right choose what they want in their bodies then we begin to erode the basic laws of Democracy. Choice is and must always be paramount. I have friends who will not be vaccinated on religious grounds. There are those who do it on moral grounds. To some devoutly religious people having a blood transfusion is wrong. I have had my two shots with no ill effects. But that's my choice. Please, don't let us fall out with each other over such a subject. Tolerance and the right to choose are so important.
Well said. Thank you.

All I hear about at work, at church, out and about is Covid, Covid, Covid! Every week when I go to work the policies change and become more restrictive in the face of the aggressive new Delta variant. I'm vaccinated, but I don't feel safe at all. This is mostly because my best friend who's about my same age got Covid earlier this summer despite being vaccinated. I've heard it causes permanent heart damage, so it has crossed my mind of my buddy dying of a heart attack at age 40 and leaving me to grieve for the rest of my life.
A coworker of my father was killed at age 55 by Covid earlier this summer. Both of my parents are in their 50's and it scares me that they could be killed by this disease. They are both vaccinated, but I don't believe the vaccine keeps anyone 100% safe. I seriosly fear becoming an orphan. I'm scared of that phone call that says a grandparent was admitted to ICU, or a friend has breathing trouble and a severe fever... I had a complete breakdown and practically begged my parents not to go to a football game. I was really scared of them coming in contact with unvaccinated people and the general crowded and dirty enviroment that is a football stadium. In retrospect, I feel good that I expressed my honest fear of the disease and my disapproval of them going to such an environment.
At this point, I try to not go anyplace besides my own house, my grandparents' house and my office. Those are the only three places I feel somewhat safe from Covid and mostly safe from my contamination OCD fears. The fear of Covid has made my contamination anxiety about "dirty" objects or "infected" people become exponetially worse in the past year.
Is it normal for me to fear myself or my friends and family getting killed by Covid? Is it normal for my fear of this disease to make me feel like I am becoming reclusive and avoiding anyplace that isn't one of my three "safe places?" Is it normal for my fear of covid to influence other things I am anxious about?
With all due respect, you need to research Covid and vaccines, get better informed. Do not use mainstream media for facts. They lie. Try a social media platform where there are many reports from alternative media. Educating yourself is half the battle.

"the report describes how Americans spend more than double per person on healthcare compared with 17 peer nations, but rank near the bottom in health outcomes.

The phenomenon is described as “pervasive”, affecting all age groups up to 75, with life expectancy declining especially for women. In just a few examples, Americans have the highest infant mortality, children are less likely to live to age five, and the US has the worst rates of Aids among peer nations.

The US also has the highest or among the highest rates of cardiovascular disease, obesity, chronic lung disease and disability. Together, these risk factors culminate in Americans having the worst or second worst probability of living to age 50

See my other response to your so informative post. Why in God‘s name is Covid political? Guess what? The virus doesn’t give a flying f*ck if its’ victim is a liberal, conservative, Q-anon, communist, socialist, Buddhist; whether they’re in the US, Canada, the UK, Asia, or even Antarctica. It’s an equal opportunity killer and destroyer of lives.

For those of you who are religious, what do you think God/Jesus would say about this? I’d imagine we’d be told that God made human kind to do marvellous things, and creating this vaccine to save so many lives is one of them. Fear the vaccine..let the virus have its way with you and your loved ones...no, I don’t believe a loving God would proclaim that.

That's even more dangerous that mainstream media, and a large part of the problem today (not limited to the pandemic). Everyone is "educated" by social media, and no one really knows anything anymore. Haha.

Again, a place in which nearly everyone’s answer to anything is “listen to your doctor” “don’t google!” And we see this piece of gem of a thread.

Stop people, really.

There are a lot of posts that give links to good articles that have been written by drs and scientists. You have to go thru and weed out what makes sense.

If you were to read a paper about quantum physics, would you understand it? Unless you specifically studied it, the answer is no.

Unless you have an MD, you can misinterpret studies and findings.

How many times did you take a test and swore you nailed to only find out later you didn’t? Happens all the time. We think we are right and then we are not.

Considering everyone’s track record on here swearing to God that they are dying from every disease, It’s obvious we cannot rationally research anything on the internet. I would say it’s best to talk with your doctor about COVID19.

They have way more knowledge about this than you will ever read. They deal with it with real people everyday. You do not.
