How do you handle the wait?

I'm a 34yo F. Ive been experiencing some really weird, really concerning upper left abdominal pain lately and my doctor sent me out for an abdominal ultrasound, which is later this morning. Im terrified as I, like most of you, struggle with health anxiety. How do you handle the wait for results? I'm a mom with 6 children...and the "what ifs" are so overwhelming right now.

I’ve been there! The wait is torture - but I’ve been in that position more than I care to remember. But just hope for the best and pray that everything will be fine!! I’m a mom too and try to tell myself I’m doing what I can to ensure I’m here for the kids. That helps a bit. And I try to stay busy. Easier said than done I know!! Prayers and hugs.

If they see a problem, they typically won’t even let you leave as they call your doctor for further direction. Assuming you had the US, left and haven’t heard anything, it’s doubtful anything sinister was found. We’ve all been there and that’s HA for you. Awful, I know.

We have all been there, and yes the wait for the scan is hard but the results are harder.
My thoughts are with you, everything is going to be ok.

My doc called yesterday afternoon - everything was fine minus 2 small fluid filled cysts - one on my liver and one on my right kidney. They said it's normal...but they weren't there 5 years ago on an abdominal ultrasound I had. So it's concerning me.

That’s nothing to worry about. I have a cyst on a kidney and the doc went out of his way to assure me it meant nothing. As far as it not being on a prior scan, it has to form sometime. I have no idea when mine formed and it’s nothing to worry about.
