How are you dealing with groceries?

I have been in this house for exactly one month. I have not stepped outside except to get some air on my deck.
I am terrified of deliveries of food - so far we had one and we tried to clean the items but I don't feel we did a good job.
There are no more deliveries available in my area. It's either go in the supermarket or starve.

What have you all been doing?

I was gonna post about this same thing. After next week I'll be forced to do something but idk what yet. I'm also scared to get delivery so I thought about curbside pick up. ugh I have no idea what I'm going to do

I’m going about my normal activities. I’m staying home as much as possible, wear a mask near people, wear gloves when getting gas, etc.
There’s only so much one can do, before things start to become completely nuts. The chances are very high that much of the population will get this. Most wont know, or will have symptoms that are mild. It shouldn’t be taken lightly, so I’m not saying that. I am saying that we all live in enough fear already. How much is enough?

I just got back from the groceey store! Best shopping trip ever! It was well stocked. I even got a huge bag or dried beans and rice. The only thing they didn't have was toilet paper. I was the only one in the store for the whole time besides when I was leaving then 2 older people came in the store but had masks on like I did. I think I was able to get enough stuff to last us for 3 weeks at least. Now I am going back to isolating myself. Also, I sanitized everything I bought on my porch before bringing it in the house which took a good hour between wiping with clorox wipes or spaying with lysol. If only every shopping trip could be so perfect, I may actually enjoy shopping!

Here, delivery pickings are slim but still available. If/when that ceases to be the case, guess I'm putting on rubber gloves and going to the store. Luckily it's only a five-minute walk from where I live.

Walmart is less packed less stocked.
But other than that life is good.

Went to Walmart yesterday and they were limiting people who are walking into the store. Most people that were shopping were wearing a mask and there was plenty of food except for toilet paper!

It may not be the most exciting thing to talk about... BUTT! (Pun intended lol!) people are aware there is such a thing as soap and water if you run out of toilet paper, yeah?

We go with mask and gloves. Then we have one spot where we unload everything then wipe it all down with clorox wipes. Anything that is boxed we take out then throw all boxes away. Then i disinfect the car and we shower. Who knows if it helps but we are trying our best

I take a dump on my neighbors lawn... or I play a game where I go poo in the house somewhere and whoever screams first (my sister or niece) loses. I always win is the best part.

I'm the designated outside-world contact for my family. I just got back an hour or so ago from grocery shopping. Other than cucumbers (??) there wasn't anything I was looking for that wasn't on the shelves. Stockers are wearing masks and gloves, as are the baggers. Checkstand clerks are wearing gloves and appeared to be changing them between customers, which was a good idea IMO. Frequent glove changes are important if you've decided to use them, because otherwise if you get contamination on them, now you're leaving a nice stamp of virus on whatever you handle. I live in a state which is pretty much shut down right now, except for essential goods and services. The store wasn't crowded at all; I've been there at 2pm, at 6pm, and at 8pm the last 3 times and its about the same. They have the check stand queues marked with feet to stand on that are more than 6 feet apart, but I've only had one person in line in front of me once on those trips.
I'm careful to avoid touching my face until I get home, and the first thing I do is wash my hands. I put the groceries away and wash my hands one more time, and that's about it. So far, so good. I take the kids out for runs, and we've played at the park (playing catch with lacrosse sticks and shooting at our collapsible goal - staying away from the playground). I walk the dog a couple times a day. Lately I've been carrying a bandanna in case I get into a situation where I need to be close to other people, but more for their peace of mind (and in case I'm an asymptomatic carrier at the moment).

I shop every day here. My mother is 80 so not allowed out. Have to pick her pension up too. Shops are stopping large amounts of people for entering the shops now. Might have to queue to get in the shop. Then when it comes to checking out, because there are less people allowed in at any one time, you are straight out. Whole shop is a one way system. Special markings on the floor. People in genral and been good about giving each other space. They will stop and stand back to let another person pass them by. You always get one or two who ignore the rules. If anything I have been baked in the shops. Face covering and the likes. Happy to shop as quickly as I can.

I've been using grocery delivery services. In normal times, I have not been a fan of delivery. Still not crazy about it. It makes me feel lazy, plus I like being able to pick my own produce, and I don't like a stranger showing up at my door.

However, the chances of catching the virus are far less likely through delivery than going to a store (though not zero). You can opt for "no-contact delivery", where they will just leave your stuff outside, and you never have to come into contact with another person. You can put your groceries aside for a few days, or wipe down what little virus remnants might be on it, if it makes you feel better. But you're unlikely to catch anything.

Unfortunately, right now, delivery services are over-stretched due to demand, and becoming less reliable. It's becoming harder to get the items you specifically ordered, and get them on time. So it's been a sacrifice to make do without some of my favorite items I would normally have in the house. I'm beginning to run out of things I'm usually well-stocked on, and I think I will soon have to change my eating habits significantly to accommodate what's available to me. (I'm even having trouble obtaining dishwasher liquid.) But it's either that, or go to the store and catch the virus, potentially putting myself or my loved ones at risk. So for now, I will just have to avoid going to the store for as long as I can. That's just the reality we're in.

Delivery services in Ireland have a 3 week waiting time. I kid you not. Few places have stopped doing them. Could you really wait 3 weeks for your messages? Bit pointless using them with such a delay. Thus it is forcing people to go to the shops.

We had pretty much gone to delivery full time before all this; I'd just go to pick up something that had to be really fresh, like avocados, or bread. Complete opposite now, because we can't wait the 2 weeks it takes for delivery now (a bit better than Ireland has it, I suppose). If this goes on for a couple months, I expect I'll find it tiresome, but its a nice change of scenery twice a week now.
