Do you ever just randomly feel really good, like you're in this haze of elation and you wonder how you can keep feeling that way, like hold onto that feeling? I'm not talking about that feeling you get when you're under an influence of some substance, but just pure joy. I do wonder all the time, but sadly, there seems to be no way of staying in this bubble of happiness.

Oh, I really can't remember the last time I ever felt so elated. Maybe because I'm mostly down these days, I have been for years now. But if I would ever have just one day of pure joy, without worrying or thinking about anything else, I would gladly make the most out of that feeling. I miss that feeling but I don't know when I would ever feel that way again.

That actually happens quite often for me. I find that when I focus on a feeling of love or gratitude I can hold onto that feeling for longer. Sometimes it happens because of something specific, but sometimes I will just be feeling fine or even a little down and I all of a sudden get that overwhelming feeling of joy. It's really nice when it happens.

I try to look at it this way - bear with me for a bit.

I LOVE going to the beach for a vacation. I love the water, the breeze, playing in the sand. I enjoy the beach town culture, the newness of the environment, how relaxing it is to vacation in an environment like this.

But if i lived at a beach, it would still have all of those elements, but I probably would start taking it for granted.

I love experiencing the level of emotion you are describing - it feels fantastic. But any emotion, good or bad, is a temporary thing. So when the buzz, so to speak, starts to fade off, I remind myself that just because I proverbially am not at the beach any more does not mean the beach is gone, or that I can't experience it again...because I will.

It's interesting how much we learn everyday. I really love reading and I love human psychology in general. I have had some problems with anxiety and panic attack. Other things also and I realized I have the power to change many things. Right now I read Emile Coue and his methods of positive suggestion and auto-suggestion. It is really a nice thing to realize. I have tried to affect my unconscious being and it worked in both times. I managed to trigger the best in me and do some things that I couldn't have done in such a confident manner. I recommend this author. Try his methods, they are old and they function. He is the guy behind the placebo effect.

I usually wake up each morning feeling that way but as hard as I try to keep the happy mood going something seems to always happen to change it. I wish there was a way to be happy all the time. If should would make life a lottery better but I guess moods are all a part of life. When I feel anxiety coming on it now it is going to be a bad couple of days ahead.

Good feelings? No, I don't hold on to them. I enjoy them, then put them away. Why put them away? Ah, good feelings are not a dime a dozen. We don't get good feelings every other second. They are few and far in between. So we should store them away in our memories. Then when we hit a particularly bad patch, we can bring out the memories of those good feelings and put back some sunshine and zing in our lives.

Thank you all for your insightful responses. It's good to know I'm not a complete oddball and some people also kind of ponders the same things i do.

I been trying to hold on to the feeling. But, Every time I hear a **** talker, I feel the sadness conning back. You have to watch cartoons. Maybe change your music genre.

I just try to accept for what it is. If I try to hard to hold onto it, or worry that it will slip away then it's much easier for me to lose it. Accepting happiness when it comes helps too. Sometimes it's far too easy to start thinking about why I shouldn't be happy and that can cause the joy to disappear.
