Hi people, i dont like going to the doctors, as i take what they say to the highest level of Anxiety. Anyway i had to go to see a GP, about an ear infection (basic) but he wanted to do bloods BP etc. Any way i have high blood pressure and have been put on to a 8mg daily tablet. So home i go and Google High Blood Pressure, ahhh bad move, heart attack stroke etc. Iam freaking out now. Even brought a $150 blood Monitor so i can check myself, after 2 days still high. I'm fit and healthy, exercise as in walking cycling, (dont drink much water but should) never smoked, dont use salt but do enjoy Beers. My problem is now, i can feel my heart pumping, headaches, popping ears, tired, sore neck shoulder. Had none of these issues before i saw the GP. How many people in there 40s have this. Will the BP drop or its here to stay
Thanks

Everytime I'm anxious my blood pressure goes up. You are doing everything you can to bring it down. Eating healthy, exercising, and on medication. Drink some more water, maybe try yoga or meditation. I have the same fears of stroke or heart attack but it takes years, sometimes decades of chronic high blood pressure to cause these things most of the time. I am willing to bet your blood pressure isn't as high as you think when you arent sitting there monitoring it. The moment that cuff goes on most people's anxiety goes up.

My blood pressure has been high when the doc checks it as well. There’s a really thing called “white coat syndrome” where you get nervous when you’re in the doctors office so your blood pressure rises. And I’m guessing your stress at home isn’t helping either. I would just take the medicine they prescribed you for it, keep living a healthy life style, and don’t check it constantly if you can help it.

well dazz...heres one for ya. i was put on high blood pressure meds about a year ago. i always felt sick on the medication...i was scared and like you i googled everything i could about it. i also went out and bought a bp cuff machine to have at home so i could check it. and id check it periodically thru out the day and night. it was way high "scary high" and then it would bottom out, go very low. i explained this to my doctor and they ran every test you can imagine on my heart. everything came back normal :( they took me off the bp medicine and believes its all from my anxiety. I LOVE IT...so there telling me my mind is SO STRONG i can make my blood pressure flucuate?! REALLY?? idk...i hate doctors!! :( so if hes right, you actually might be doing it to yourself also, just by thinking about it or not thinking about it but you really are? you sound fit and healthy from what you wrote...i wouldnt put too much thought into it but certainly get checked out first! # frustrated!! doctors suck.

So true, been on the BP medication for 4 days now, and it has dropped. One thing I have noticed the first time every day it reads 147/83etc then i re do it come out at 135/81 etc. Even before bed same thing. But its better then 164 and 171. And its a cheap medication.
