Hi, I am new to this forum. Not new to anxiety though. I have been very well controlled by 4mg of diazepam daily, but my new doctor wants me to stop them - I'm freaking out, of course!

Welcome. It's great that you can have very well controlled anxiety. I've been on Lexapro and Klonopin for over 20 years. My old psychatrist retired and he warned me that his replacement would want to get me off of the Klonopin and switch to paxil. I met with her twice and sure enough I was in your situation with a psychiatrist wanting to change my meds. I figured, I was the patient so I just had my medications prescribed by my general doctor.

Welcome @Ruby2 to the forum. Is your new doc giving you an alternative or does he/she want you to quit cold turkey?

I don't have a psychiatrist, it is a new general doctor. He offered me Citalopram, but when I read the leaflet I found that I have quite a serious contra-indication and therefore I would not take them. So, he just wants me to reduce and eventually stop the Diazepam. I am not seeing how it's the best option to stop something that works, and I am not on a high dose in any case. It's very annoying when your doctor will not let you be well.
