Henrie no worries. This is very normal. The color I’d due to any combination of the food we eat, our emotions, and how long it takes the food to make its way through the body (transit time). How old are you?

Only if it is literally black as tar with that same consistency should you look into it. Having said that, stool can get mighty dark when it’s normal. For example, eating blueberries, taking Pepto Bismol are just 2 things that can make your stool look jet black.

Also when you eat spinach it will turn the stool a blackish green.

I will share something kind of unpleasant here, because I want to help clear your worries, if I can. A year ago, I made some black stools joined by dark blood, after a day of feeling weak and unwell. That resulted in a trip to the emergency room and about half a week in the hospital. I was bleeding out into myself at the very beginning of my small intestinal tract, which means the blood had to go through my entire system before reaching the end -- and even then, I was still having actual visible blood come out with my stool. My advice on this is to continue monitoring your stools (as we all should), but I would not worry too much about internal bleeding unless you've got some very black stools potentially accompanied by blood.
