HELP ANYONE?

HELLO THERE! 26 years old here.
Last week while adjusting my hair I noticed my left mastoid process bone is a lot larger and more pointy and my right one is smooth. Is this normal? Anyone else have this problem?
Since then; I can’t stop touching it and comparing both and everyone I see, I look at their ears and nobody else seems to have this problem.
Health anxiety is already awful. Now imagine having this problem. I’m a wreck. Anyone else relate??

Are you qualified to evaluate these types of things (e.g. are you a medical student / professional)? If not, I recommend not self checking like this, because you probably can't properly evaluate what you're feeling.

I don’t see this as a problem. We are not symmetrical and that is normal. I think what Binn means is if you aren’t a doctor or knowledgeable in anatomy then how would you know this was abnormal?

If you look for differences you will find them and that doesn’t mean they are abnormal at all.

Oh ok, I see what he means. I guess what scares me is that the left side is a lot more protruding and pointy and than the right. The right side is smooth and not bumpy and the other side is definitely sticking out more. To the point that you can see it. I just wonder if anybody else has different shaped mastoid process. Health anxiety sucks. I have been on Googling endlessly for days and I already saw a lot of bad news on what it could it be. And I’m a wreck now.
Yes I have a doctor appointment but I am tired of going to the doctor for everything. It’s feeding my health anxiety.
Anybody please help.

I’ve gone through that stage where I started comparing one side with the other. It will drive you c r a z y. Stop. Go see your doctor if you wish. She/he will no doubt say what I was told, the body is not meant to be symmetrical. In my case he felt the area I was focusing on and in literally 2 seconds said it’s normal. If you go, please post so hopefully some future readers will see even more evidence of this.

There’s asymmetry in the body all the time. Some people have different eye sizes, and leg lengths, but they can live their lives normally. If this mastoid process bone starts becoming a problem, you will have symptoms that are treatable. If it’s really a problem, it won’t permanently be a problem.

There were a few occasions. I tend to forget them. A defense mechanism I suppose. The one I do remember was feeling the end of my breastbone on each side. One side is clearly larger and harder than than the other
