Hey everyone. I am from Canada. I did a search of forums of anxiety and came across this one and it looked promising. I poked a round a bit before signing up. I hope to add some value to the discussion where I can but also will be asking for advice or seeking guidance too. I have been dealing with social anxiety and depression since I was 12. I am still on the wait list for a therapist from mental health and in the mean time am taking medication. Well I can't wait to poke around more now.

Hi, I hope you get a therapist soon or find one that you can work with. While it's never an answer it can help. So far while I have been here, there has been some good support and also there are no 'silly' questions. See you around!

Thanks. This week I actually called my local mental health to see if there was an opening and the wait list is longer now. It went from 8 months to about a year. She told me they were very understaffed which I can believe. In the meantime I have liked what i have seen on this forum so far, very nice community. :)

It's great to have you join the community, I'll be waiting to discuss any topics you decide to start. I hate that Anxiety is such a problem all over society, but here we are talking with one another about our experience and offering some great advice, you'll enjoy your stay.

I think one of the most important steps to combating anxiety is seeking a community of people who are or who have been through the same struggles as you. Seeking professional help is often the next most logical and helpful step, so it looks like you are already on your way. I hope you make some friends here, and that you get the help that you deserve once your spot on the waiting list opens up! Best of luck! :)

Thanks for the positive words. So far I really like this community. The lady I spoke to with mental health did mention a support group which is woman only dealing with depression and anxiety but I don't feel like I am ready for that. For one my social anxiety has me scared to even think of going to a group. And two I really would rather the one on one of a therapist. It is not something I am saying no to all together I just can't see it happening now. So in the meantime communities like this seem like a great way to discuss issues and help each other out.
