I'm a 44 y old male suffering from Health Anxiety. It has gotten progressively worse over he last year. Of late it's stomach issues for me. It feels like a pit in the bottom of my stomach. Comes and goes, but for the most part I'm always checking for it. If it's not there at the moment I wait and magically it acts up again. Went to my primary and had all blood wok done and than some and it came back good. Still having stomach pains so I went to the ER because I need answers NOW!! Chest X Ray, CT Scan, and an ultrasound late and of course blood work once again and they can't find anything. So I decide to go a Gastro doctor and he said it could be IBS or GERD, but because of my age you should have an colonoscopy done. Now I'm freaking out again with the worry of this procedure approaching. The only time I feel normal is when I play basketball and I'm not thinking about my anxiety. I have xanax that i use at times, but not every day. Help please

Nick I’m right there with you! I understand the crippling anxiety you’re probably feeling. Try to find comfort in the fact that you’ve been to the ER and done tests already and they’ve come back good. Even though you haven’t done the procedure yet, something would’ve had to have shown up on at least ONE of those other tests you’ve already done. Do you have copies of your past tests? Sometimes looking at my good results gives me reassurance. Hope this gives you a little comfort.

Story of my life! I just had the endoscopy done last week and it showed GERD, other than that MRI, blood work, EMG , Cardiologist , EKG, chest x-rays ENT, Eye Doctor. All showed fine. But yet I FEEL LIKE CRAP!!!! It interferes with my life that I've kinda isolated myself from family and friends and wish I could quit my job!!

I have an appointment for GI specialist this week. Same here I dont know why I feel so bad when the doctors assure me I'm fine. Wish I could quit my job as well. I feel I have done the same by isolating myself from everyone . I can barely get through the day without the aches and pains interfering.

I hope we both get some relief soon, this is not a fun journey at all!!

Hello!!
Colonoscopy isn't as bad as it used to be!! Seriously the prep is the "worst" part. I put that in quotes because it really isn't terrible, it's just drinking a lot of fluids that taste weird. The actual procedure is quick and easy. I promise you will be fine! Plus, you'll feel so much better knowing :)
