Hi I’m new to the site. I got I really sick last year and ended up in the hospital, since then every time I feel sick I panic. Last week I noticed my arm and leg went dead. Not sure how to describe it. It started as a feeling of cramping in my right arm and leg (my back doesn’t hurt at all). It would come and go and was very painful like I broke my arm and had a Charlie horse in my leg. I went to the doctor who was not helpful. She brushed me off and told me to see a neurologist, which really scared me. My parents say it’s just a pinched nerve but now one week later the pain is horrible. My hand shakes and my foot goes numb and I have to kick/shake to get some of sort relief because my arm and leg become so stiff. The pain now is constant I really get no break. I’m so scared and my family no longer believes me that something is wrong as I am constantly in panic about every ache and pain. I can’t drive yet so I know I’m never getting to the neurologist, not that I can blame them, I’ve become a mess. I’m just wondering if anyone has had this before. It’s only my right arm and leg. I of course like always googled this and scared myself more that it’s MS, some sort of partial seizure, or a neurological disorder. Could this be aniexty or is it serious.

Hi! I am new to the sight too. I have been experiencing similar things to you this summer. i feel like it is eating me alive. I cannot even go to the doctor because I am so scared. I have kept it a secret from my parents and everyone else... I don/t know your full situation and I am definitely not qualified to give you any advice considering i cant even go see a general practitioner... but i know the logical thing fro both of us is to go see a neurologist. If it is not something serious then at least our fears will be put out... If it is something more serious then the sooner it is diagnosed the better results we will have. Has it only been on one side of your body or has it been switching from side to side?

Hi Riley thanks for the reply. I totally agree I would feel so much seeing a neurologist but like I said my parents think I have cried dying one to many times. The doctor did do blood work and urine all of which are normal. I am still waiting on a Lyme test (I had it a few years ago). She also did a muscle test and said I was strong in both sides. It’s only on my right side in my arm and leg and every now and then my right side of my jaw kind of locks with it. Like I said it comes and goes and eating makes it worse. What about you. I know in my case since the I was hospitalized a year ago everything worries me and as annoyed as my parents and brother can get, they are really there for me. I know if I was persistent they would take me. Telling my family made it much easier on me. Every time I’m scared I can come them and talk to them and they always make me feel better. At night my brother tells me if I’m scared to text him and he will sit me until I feel better. I know your scared to let your family in but it could really help. I can’t imagine doing this alone. And if your still can’t I’m here to talk.

I'm glad you have such a supportive family! It does sound like it would be easier if i told someone. I guess i'm afraid of their reactions... if they get scared or worried then i will be even more scared and worried.
I know i'm not in a place to give advice but Maybe sit down with them and explain how seeing a neurologist will finally put your fears to bed. Also, my problems are that I have had a weird tight feeling in my right leg for like a month. It comes and goes.. Everything happened in May where my left side felt tingly, cold, hot, wet, weak etc. then it switched to my right and then back to my left and now its just tightness in my right leg. i explain this in my thread if you want to click on my name and look at it. Thank you for being willing to talk to me about my issues too. I think you should stay away from googling what your symptoms could mean and maybe try distracting yourself. i find that my weird sensations go away when i am distracted... When i remember them and my fears, the sensations come back and the anxiety hits even harder. This coincidence is why I'm holding onto hope that it really is only anxiety and not something more serious. What about you? Do you have any ways to cope with it? But ya, I know it sounds silly to other people.. but this is really ruining my quality of life.. it sounds like your issues are ruining yours as well.

I want to give it some time because just like you said when I’m distracted it really doesn’t bother me which makes me think it is my aniexty. I read your post and what your feeling almost matches how I feel completely. I also have the same thing you described and so glad you said it because I felt alone on this, that you jolt out of bed. I have this occasionally too. I feel like I can’t feel my body it cramps and I get dizzy then I jump up and run out of my room in a panic. I had a seizure due to a drug overdose (I’m really embarrased to say that out loud) and am so afraid it will happen again. I was suffering from ocd before this and drugs helped me to focus elsewhere until this happened. Since then I have been clean a year it was a wake up call, but night time is the most stressful and when these jolts happen. I am terrified it will happen again. As far as dealing with it distraction and these boards really help, so does my family and I just started a new job which really helped. I’m to busy to think. And again like you said I am the queen of google and I have finally stopped. I just tell myself give it a few days then google, by then I usually feel better and have forgotten about. I know what it feels like to have it feel your fear is ruining your life. A few months after it happened I thought I needed to go away because I couldn’t stop sobbing and over thinking. Even though I’m still scared I have come along way since then. Keep talking and try to rationalize with yourself. When I get scared telling myself that I’m clean now and being healthy helps me a lot.

dont feel embarrassed! We all struggle with something. I think that we are both on a better path than we were. We just need to keep our heads high and try to face one day at a time. If you want you can message me when/if you decide to see a nuerologist and I'll message you when i do too. I feel so much better just hearing that one person is feeling the way I do... what is funny is i can see your situation and easily rationalize how it can be related to only anxiety, but I couldnt do that t my own situtaion. Basically hearing your story is helping me rationalize my own situation (just like you said). Thank you for sharing your thread. I just feel so much better than I did before joining this forum.

Even my right cheek feels like it's getting pulled from the muscle tension.

Thank you so much! I feel so much better too. I woke up this morning and just felt clearer. I am here as well and you can message me with anything, please know you really helped me! Miha I also have this in my cheek and tongue. I’m started to believe more and more it’s aniexty because when I ignore it the pain shortens and goes away much quicker.
