I work from home which is great, because all my interactions are online and sometimes via phone but the downside is I have to be at my desk a lot. You can really pile on the weight, but I guess that goes for any office jobs. The best thing I ever did was getting a treadmill, because let's face it, gyms are not great places for people with anxiety (cost aside). 1/2 hour - 1 hour of cardio is really all I need.

As long as you try to be active and have a decent diet, you will start to feel better when you do have to go out IRL for whatever reason. At least it works for me, I stopped thinking about it as much because I don't feel as lethargic and down. Plus it's mostly done in the comforts of my own home, so my progress is nobody's business but mine:)

I understand what you're going through. I used to play sports, but after anxiety starting taking over my life, I stopped. I put back on a lot of weight I'd lost being active. I'm starting back to get into a gym routine now and it's helping a lot. I'm not seeing results yet, but it's making me feel better for a reason I can't explain. Now when I miss going to the gym it makes me anxious instead of the opposite. I think you just need to find a routine that fits you whether it's working out in your backyard or in your home. There are alternatives to going out in public, you just have to find them. I mean you can even go to the gym at a time that a lot of people aren't there. That's usually early in the morning or late at night.

Indoor exercise could help. You could invite a best friend or family member over. Someone you trust well like your mum or dad. Tell them to come over an exercise at home with you. A good way to exercise indoors would be a treadmill or a stationary bicycle. if those solutions are too expensive, you can try easy things like star jumps or push ups, or just going in a circle in a big room or around your house. If you're able to, go running with a whole bunch of people you're comfortable with. In a big group of familiar people, I find that my anxiety and self-consciousness slowly diminishes. Try telling your family your situation and see who can go out to exercise with you.

I just love food so much that I find myself gaining more and more weight as time goes by, like right now my weight is an at all time high, since I gained 5 pounds more. In my case, it's just plain laziness and overeating that makes me gain weight, no anxiety. I know cutting down my portions is an effective and fast way to lose weight in my case (even without exercise) but the flesh is too weak to comply.

I've been mostly indoors after quitting my job 2 years ago but this has not stopped me from keeping myself fit. I have more time than ever to devote time to a regular exercise routine. I also have more options when it comes to food and I can choose to eat healthier foods now that I don't have to eat at the office canteen or at fastfood chains. I never had to go out to exercise. Whenever anxiety hits me, I fight it off by walking back and forth in the living room. That is around 30 steps one way. I also like to march in place while watching television and this burns more calories in a shorter time than plain walking. Taking care of my body makes me feel good about myself. You can try it, too.

I'm a really skinny dude but I have a little bit of belly going on and that makes me incredibly insecure about my body! I think that the belly is there because I eat a lot of junk food on a regular basis, and I'm really really trying to cut it off for good. I'm also trying to do some exercise in the morning. It's been about one month now and I'm not really sure if there has been some changes but I'm definitely more confident and I feel more physically strong, which I have never been.

I've gained quite a bit of weight since starting a second job several years ago.  A lot of it is due to eating unhealthy stuff.  Since I'm hardly ever home I resort to fast food a lot. I hate my body and hate that I can't resist eating this stuff I know is bad for me but I've fallen into a pessimistic mindset and everything just feels impossible.

Same thing happened to me but I'm now in the process of figuring out how to reverse it. Initially I didn't mind gaining a few pounds but after a year or two things kind of got out of hand and I didn't really notice how much more weight I was putting on that I am now at a point where I think it would take a lot more effort to reverse it whereas before I thought it would be fairly easy to just cut back again on food and start to maintain again. On the bright side, it has caused me to research a lot more about health so at least I have information now that I could use for the rest of my life moving forward.

It's a good idea to do your research, as far as I know getting fat usually comes down to how bad you eat. I admit, I drink a lot of soda and eat at weird hours, I don't really have a pattern so that is probably throwing off my body. In nearly 2 years I've gained over 20 pounds just from depression alone, I think that's pretty bad but I plan to start going to the gym pretty soon. Dieting will be hard for me but it's required to improve my confidence and mental health.

Guys, go to the gym! Trust me! It's one of the keys to all the major anxiety issues. In fact, a lot of people here would solve their so called anxiety problems by sticking to a workout regimen for a couple of months, mainly because their behavior is not about anxiety, but rather because they are insecure. Trust me, I've been there and that's what you get if you neglect your body.

It's hard to get out and exercise sometimes when you have anxiety.  And when you have depression, it feels like it doesn't matter.  On the opposite end of the spectrum, if you have an eating disorder, your weight, how your body looks, and your exercise level become your worth as a person, which isn't good either.  In the end, managing your weight and loving your body come down to self-care, which is so, so very important for people with anxiety and depression, or anyone, really.  Even if you don't have an eating disorder, Overeaters Anonymous is a great resource, whether on their website or going to meetings in person, if you find yourself emotionally over or under eating.  https://oa.org/

You should feel comfortable with your body, if you think you're overweight to your likes, make sure you change it. Go to the gym and workout, if you don't like the gym just go for runs on the park and make some exercises. Make whatever it takes to feel comfortable with yourself because that's vital.
