Hey man - I've been in a funk, too. Not really having panic attacks, but just exhaustion and I feel kind of angry and irritable, anti-social... I am in constant pain , and just spending all of my energy getting through each day. It all feels overwhelming. .. reading and responding here feels overwhelming. So don't worry - we get it. :) You won't be forgotten.... Hope your funk lifts soon.

I've been the same way. Don't really know why. I do have a stomach virus. But I am on edge and just don't feel up to par. I hope we all feel better soon.

Thanks all! This happens to me in cycles i guess. Its just that this time its holding on longer than average. The steady feeling of some kind of "doom" is the worst. It kinda comes and goes, but is always there during my "funk" times. It will surely pass as it has before, its just never soon enough. If i may quote the late Tom Petty..."the waiting is the hardest part!"

Hope all are doing good...thank u all for the replies.. sometimes its all some of us have :)

Yep, the cycles are hard. I always believe there must be SOME way to break it, but I haven't found it yet. I hope both of you get through the funk sooner rather than later. I'm the meantime, it's nice to have others who understand.

Thanks Hurt.. I know that you understand too. Some people don.t. They think something has to cause it. With this free floating anxiety it comes when it feels like it. I hope you are having a good day.

Yeah, it may have some deep cause we can't see, but it's unpredictable, I know - hang in there! I am not having a good day - my knee is not healing right. It's like it's glued together, and I'm in constant pain and still struggling to walk. I am frustrated and terrified of more surgery. So my anxiety right now does have a cause, I guess - I don't want to go through all this again.

I am hoping that once spring comes your funk will lift a bit? Is there something you look forward to in spring? For me, it's my dogwoods. They are beautiful in April...

You really do have a reason for your anxiety now. I guess I do too.. just don't know what it is. lol lol I have been told it is free floating and can appear for no reason but I evidently had some trauma way back that set it off. I was hit with an arrow in my right eye when I was 6 and it almost hit my brain. I didn't loose my sight but it isn't good. And had scarlet fever when I was 19 and almost died. The prayers from the people of the Church I went to must have helped. lol lol I am waiting for spring to come too. I was never that good in the winter. I sure hope your knee improves and you don''t need more surgery. I will keep you in my prayers. When will you know? Hope we all feel better.

Oh my, that's terrifying!!! And you're VERY lucky to have survived scarlet fever at 19, and not been disabled from it. But yes, could definitely affect you you feel about medical stuff, huh?

I hope I don't need more surgery either, but we'll just see. I have an appointment next week with the surgeon, and I am also looking into specialists for this type of problem. It will be a while before I have answers. They wouldn't operate again this early.

That is what I was thinking.. They won't do surgery right away. I hope they don't have to. Yeah I was lucky when I had scarlet fever. I went down to 78 lbs. I saw the guy who is my husband now. (Not then lol too young) Anyway I knew him from school and he was getting over polio. He almost didn't make it either and his church prayed for him too, he said. That's when we hooked up again. I had gone with him before. Keep me posted.

Your Welcome. lol My husband just said we were meant to live and marry and torture each other. He is laughing. He tortures me more than I torture him. lol
Hahaha love it. :) Amazing that you both survived 2 of the scariest illnesses of that time, and bonded over prayer. You can handle anything after that.

My husband and I torture each other, too. And plan to for a very long time. We've been married 12 years now, so you have a head start on us. ;) We met when I was doing mission work many years ago in South America, but didn't marry until several years later. We've had an interesting road together - he was with me during the darkest time of my life, and I'm grateful he stuck around. We now have a little boy, this fiery little creature we created, who keeps us both on our toes constantly.

We are lucky to have wonderful husbands. You have already had an interesting life. Mission work is hard and gratifying. You will get through this knee problem too. You are a strong woman. I hope you have a painless night.

Hey here is a nice article that talks about cycling and how to kind of rise above it and help to raise us up from the bottom: http://www.calmandcourageous.com/reason-struggle-recover-from-anxiety-philosophy/

Basically the premise is that the reason we cycle is that when we are feeling good we kind of get lazy in our health practices. It's only when we start to hit the bottom or get into funks that we start using our coping mechanism again. The author says to stay consistent and that eventually you will lift the bottom of you cycle up and feel more like yourself more often.

I know this is true for me. I'll have a few good weeks and then think I am Superman so I'll stay up late, stop reading and responding to forums, skip a few days of mediation.

I am trying this now as I am in a little bit of a funk after returning from a great vacation. Just got to be disciplined and continue doing the things that always get me out of it.

Cycling wouldn't work for me. I have eye and judgement problems with my eyes so I would have to choose something else. I guess it wouldn't matter what it was as long as it did the same thing. The concept is a good idea Brad. Have to try that. I'm for anything that helps us get back to what we were or still can be. Thanks for the idea.
