So today I decided to go to urgent care because of the stomach pains and stuff I’m been having and turns out I have a UTI, which I got a kidney infection 2 years ago which started my whole severe health anxiety stuff, so this is making me extremely worried and making me freak out. The medication they give me for it, nitrofurantoin makes me super sick while taking it and super nauseous and I have a fear of throwing up and it makes me want to throw up. Im freaking out about having to take it and idk how to stop freaking out about it cause I knows what’s to come the next 9 days and my 21st birthday is on Monday, so I’m pretty upset about that as well cause I’ll know how crappy I’ll feel:(

They have so many different meds you can take. Can you ask for a different one? I'm sorry you have a UTI what a crappy time to get one!

I agree, may be worth asking for a different medication. In the meantime, just try your best to avoid the anxious thoughts. This is not new for you, and you will persevere, if you ask me.

Well I’m allergic to other medications that could help and nitrofurantoin is the only antibiotic that has helped take it away in the past. Other medications wouldn’t take it away sadly, so it’s something I have to deal with for a few days :/

Did you ask the doc about possibly prescribing a few low dose antinausea medication such as promethazine (Phenergan)?

yes, I have Zofran 4mg and 8mg for it but that gives me bad headaches and makes me dizzy so I try to not take it. Lol I’m seriously a mess and a big baby when it comes to this stuff

LoL sh*t you're in a tough spot. :p Sorry all these things happen when you're just trying to feel better. I know that doesn't help when you have anxiety on top of everything. Have you tried a different antinausea medication to see if it won't give you a headache?

I'm also a big baby when it comes to nausea or being sick in any way. :p

You could try Gravol? I use this and it is super good. Also with the meds you are on see that you take it after a meal as this helps absorb it better.

lol right :p it’s always something sadly! I have tried nauzenes, Dramamine, sea bands, and emetrol and nothing works like the Zofran does for me, which sucks.

lol yeah I’m about to be 21 on Monday and I still lay in bed like a big baby when I feel the slightest icky

i haven’t tried or heard of that before! I’ll have to took into it, thanks! :) I do make sure to eat right before I take it, but that doesn’t ever seem to matter sadly. But it’s pretty common for people to feel icky from this medication, so it’s something I’ll most likely have to deal with until I’m finished with it:/

Unfortunately this is reality for so many people. Haha. I'm very fortunate that I almost never encounter a medication that doesn't do what it's supposed to do. Started a beta blocker in 2015, still on it (same dosage, too) and it's still working just fine. Took a prescription PPI, worked fine. I never get negative side effects either, it seems. Guess I'm just lucky. Haha.

Yeah you are very lucky to not have anything bad happen from medications! I wish It was that easy for me aha. I’ve been on a beta blocker, propranolol, for a while now and that seems to help the fast heart rate and the only thing I haven’t had a problem with along with Xanax. Lol everything else is a no go.

I always keep cranberry pills on hand- I really find they work immediately if I feel a UTI coming on!

i usually take azo cranberry gummies when I feel stuff coming on and I mix De mannose powder with cranberry juice to clean my urinary Tract, but the UTI was to far along for just to use that.

I’m sorry, I know how painful they can be! I hope you feel better quickly.

Haha, yep, lucky indeed! My body just accepts medication very well, I suppose. My beta blocker keeps my BP regulated (it's only mildly elevated without the med), keeps the tachycardia to a minimum, and it's also reduced the frequency of palpitations.

When I had my episode of afib in 2016 I was so terrified at first that I was vomiting. They gave me an Ativan and it was awesome! No loopy feeling. Very comfortable, and just as relaxed as anyone who's not having any anxiety. Haha.
