Found out I have COVID today. Anxious, confused, and I’m hoping it’s only up hill from here.

I’d had a scratchy throat, some fatigue, and what seemed like seasonal allergies on Saturday. Saturday night, I started to get body aches, chills, and headaches. Went to the doctor today, and dude told me I had COVID. As a hypochondriac, I worry about the small chance, that I as a fairly healthy young person, have some form of severe COVID. I’m also worried about the potential long term after effects I’ve heard about. It’s all just a bit anxiety inducing. I mean, I went over 2 years without getting it, so I sort of thought I had some good natural immunity to it.

To add onto it, the doctor prescribed Paxlovid. I was relieved at first, but then I found out there were some potential significant interactions between my BP meds and the Paxlovid. This was confirmed by the pharmacy and the online drug interaction checkers. The pharmacist essentially said. “You’ll more than likely be fine, but it could drop your BP too low. Just monitor it.” It just seemed so unsure. The doctor told me to listen to the pharmacist but the pharmacist wasn’t very reassuring. On the bright side, I think my fever symptoms are calming down, but at the same time, I’m getting a sore throat and chest congestion. Just trading one for the other

I'm going to avoid the political talk and my opinions on Covid and stick to the fact I know a lot of people who have "tested" positive including my wife...and others who post on here. With all the media talking about COVID for the past few years it's only natural to overreact and think somewhat irrationally about everything, especially those with anxiety. None the less you are and will be ok, from what the "pros" have said this is quite a mild version going around...I also know my wife has gotten a couple rough upper respiratory infections that have not been Covid and they have been worse. You are ok.

You can take the meds and just monitor yourself to see how you do. Make sure someone is with you. Covid scares me too. I had it and I'm doing okay. You will be okay too.

I hope you’ll take the Paxlovid. People with high BP are most likely to get severe symptoms. Call your doctor if you have any questions or feel worse.
So grateful we gave goods meds for Covid now. Best of luck.

Yeah I’m still on the edge with Paxlovid and my BP meds. I mean my BP has been very well managed for years now, and my COVID seems to be fairly mild and slowly getting better, fortunately. I mean, the fever and body aches have mostly gone away, and now I just have a consistent headache that’s mostly just annoying and a slightly sore throat. I’m hoping I’ve gotten through the worst of it. Not even sure if it’s worth considering the Paxlovid now.

Yeah, I know I’ll more than likely be okay, but that’s where the anxiety part comes into play.
