I still haven't handed in an application anywhere because I am dreading the interviews, getting along with coworkers and wondering if I can do my job right. I think that getting a job right now would really make me feel like I'm doing something productive and help me get over some of my anxiety.

What was your first job and what age did you get it? How was the experience for you?

My first job was in retail( I was 17). It wasn't easy. It never is easy especially when many of the customers are rude and you can't do anything about it because "the customer is always right." Good thing though is since we were busy most of the day, there wasn't much time to socialize which was fine by me. liselle you shouldn't be terrified of interviews. What's the worst that can happen? Not getting the job (which wouldn't be that bad because you don't have one now). So send in your job applications and go for the interview. Job interviews make everyone nervous so being nervous shouldn't worry you that much.

I got my first job at 15 as a teenager, working part time while I was still at school in a fast food place. I don't think my social anxiety had really hit then - or maybe I just passed it off as shyness - but I had to do all manners of things, take orders, prep food, talk to strangers ALL the time - looking back in a way I can't believe I did it.

My other jobs have mainly been in office work, but have involved dealing with customers. It's funny that I can do it in a professional sense and sort of play the part of having confidence, but inside I am often a ball of anxiety.
