Feeling trapped because of the coronavirus

The governor of my state seems like a complete idiot and is not taking this virus seriously enough. We barely shut down eat in restaurants yesterday! I was so close to moving out of state before all this happened and now we are using any spare money we have to eat and pay bills because my husband isn't working anymore because I was scared of him bringing this virus home! Does anybody else feel trapped? I keep hearing all of these horror stories of young people dying or almost dying and it feels like I am just stuck here hoping not to get it and that's all I can do. Feels like that's not enough! I feel like I'm getting claustrophobic kinda. Idk how to describe it. Any suggestions?

I am not sure what is worse, to be where I am - in NJ where all is closed down, testing going on everywhere, people getting positives all over - and we're less than 40 miles from Covid ground zero - NYC.

On the other hand, I see your point. We need to test everywhere

I’m feeling pretty trapped. My husband is still working and is around a lot of people which scares me what if he brings it home. Also I need to go to target tomorrow for some supplies, I hope my last trip for a few weeks.... I keep thinking what if I catch it this shopping trip and die from it. Would the need supplies be worth it. Even though I’m young and healthy as far as I know... Every ache, coffee or mild throat discomfort I think what if this is it. But yes I feel trapped and extremely scared. My monthly is 8 days late I can only assume due to stress.

I hear you. Living in NYC sucks right now. So many dumbass people still hanging out in groups and stuff means the spread won't slow here anytime soon.

I work a job that is technically in an essential industry even though we aren’t essential..... lol. So I’m stuck working when everyone else is at home. I honestly wish we would just close instead of being up in the air.

I didn't get tested. I still have the dry cough, itchy throat, low grade fever and feel a bit sore on the chest. not sure if it is just anxiety or worse.

for those who live in NYC, how do you guys cope up? I'm worried I could catch it even staying inside my apartment doesn't feel safe. The garbage chute is just beside our door but I'm scared of throwing trash, riding the elevator, going down to the mailroom. I'm thinking the virus is floating in the air and I could ingest it even I'm wearing mask, gloves and goggles. I also don't open my packages right away. I let it sit for few days because they said the corona could stay on the surface for days.

I am sorry! I couldn't imagine living in NYC right now. I wouldn't be going anywhere though if I did! I barely checked my mail only once in the last 2 weeks and sprayed everything with lysol and left it outside for a few days. I will probably check the mail again in 3 weeks or so. I don't want to touch anything either! We finally have a stay at home order here and that brings some relief but I'm either trying to convince myself things will be ok or I'm just crying in my room. Idk what to do or how to handle this. There is just nowhere to run to nowhere to be safe. I feel like an invisible enemy is waiting outside my apartment for me... it's so draining!
