I don't believe there is a verified case of transfer of HIV in the way you describe. I've read that such transfer is theoretically possible, but if there have been any such cases, it would be 1 in a billion. Above and beyond that, you assume he is HIV+.

Hi. I have had similar fears and I assure you there is nothing to worry about. If you are still anxious, go get a test kit from CVS or Walgreens and validate yourself, it will be negative. Unprotected veginal and anal sex, dirty needles and if something happens in a hospital setting where they don't clean instruments that go into you. Even unprotected oral sex with someone who carrier virus, is such low risk, no one would recommend you even get tested.

Did both of you have open fresh wounds? Was there liquid blood on your hand?

If there wasn’t liquid blood and it wasn’t covering your scratch (which would have to be open as well) then your fine.

Even people who have unprotected sex with an HIV positive person can go without catching it.

Imagine what people touch on a daily basis, the store, bank, etc. chances are this isn’t your first time in this situation but you just didn’t know it. It isn’t that easy to get HIV.

I have been exposed to fresh blood and people who had god knows what, always washed my hands afterwards, and tried to do my best at keeping it sanitary. But there’s only so much you can do. I am still HIV negative after all these years working in public customer service roles.

My mother was at the bedside of my grandmother as she was passing away. My grandmother had Hep C from a blood transfusion years back. My grandmother tore out an IV and blood literally dripped all down my mother’s hand as she tried to help her. She didn’t get Hep C, even with fresh, known infected blood, dripping down her arm.

Your fine.

I have two family members with hiv and hiv believe it or not is a very weak disease outside of a live host on its own. It doesn’t even live 1 second, you actually would need temperatures to be perfect for it to even stay alive and you need a lot of the virus to contract it!
