Eye worries

About two years ago I went to the eye doctor because I always felt like I had a lump in my eyelid. Not to the touch, but when my eye was open, the lid felt swollen, even though it wasn’t. He didn’t really give me a diagnosis, just said that it could be blocked oil glands in the lid.

The past month or so, I’m feeling the same thing, only it’s all day. My vision in that eye also seems hazy - almost like when you first open your eyes and you have to rub them to clear your vision. I’m also getting a lot more floaters than I usually have. I’m not googling but my mind always goes to cancer. Anyone else have this?

If you are of a certain age, it could be either a cataract or posterior vitreous detachment, which is a normal part of aging where the vitreous gel separates, causing floaters and flashes and vision issues. Might want to see your optometrist for a dilated exam if you haven’t been recently.

Cancer seems way out of the question as eye tumors are incredibly rare.

I’m 36, and I haven’t been to the eye doctor in 2 years so I’m definitely due. In my mind, there is never a simple explanation for anything. Always cancer.
