Does anyone else like dressing their pets up? Do they like it? My cat wears clothes everyday. He doesn't seem to mind one bit. He wears t-shirts, collars, harnesses, hats, and even bandanas. I want to dress him up for Halloween and I think he will be a cowboy this year. I can't wait.

No, I don't dress up my pets. I have had dogs and cats when I was living in a pet-friendly neighborhood. Somehow, I feel that my dogs and cats were much more beautiful with their natural furry clothes. I do bath and groom them regularly to make sure they looked their best.

I used to make my cat wear a sock sweater before we started letting her go outside. She'd purposely scratch her neck up so bad and rip it open, we had to put a sock on it to make it so it wouldn't be that bad. Since she gets to come in and out, she doesn't do it anymore for some reason. My dogs are too big to dress up as I have two german shepherds, and I don't think my rabbit is supposed to wear clothes. My other cat has one shirt but I don't make him wear it because he got too big for it.

You dress your cat up everyday? I wonder how can they properly clean themselves up if they're fully clothed? And they wear a hat too everyday? I find that odd. As for me, I never tried dressing up my pet, even if it's for Halloween. I find it unnecessary, although I like seeing other people's pets in them. They look cute.

I'm against this for several reasons, because it can be uncomfortable for the pet and they may chew and fight to get it off. I used to live in Salem (MA) and there were several shops that sold pet costumes and I would always wonder why people did this. Then I had a landlady who dressed up her dogs, and I mean she spent money on tailor made outfits. We became friends and I told her what I thought of it and she still dresses them up for Halloween with bats wings and hats. When we were clearing her house we found all kinds of outfits, sweaters and things and I threw them out.

Locally in Salem they advise people not to dress up the pets in case it upset them or choked them. You can't watch an animal 24/7 and some animals had been known to strangle themselves by trying to remove an item put on them.

I'd rather leave my pets alone, I think it's cute to see them in outfits, but you don't really know if they want that stuff on them. There are plenty of videos showing cats and dogs reacting to clothing and even shoes, not that it's a bad thing. I just don't want to be trying to take care of my pets in that way, they are not babies.

Maybe in the winter I would consider shirts, but I just keep my place really warm, they have fur.

No, he doesn't wear all those clothes everyday. He only wears one piece at a time. He is able to properly clean himself and he is very happy. Somedays I can get him to wear a hat, other days he might wear a shirt. He enjoys wearing a harness the most, but also loves wearing shirts. Just so everyone knows I can assure you my cat is VERY well taken care of, and he is showered in love and affection. I rescued him when he was 1 week old after his mother died. I fed, burped, and helped him potty and was the first face he ever saw. My cat is the ideal weight for an adult male cat, and can do 10 tricks. His name is sticky.

Here is a pic for you guys. He is such a blessing to my life. I will never be able to love him as much as he deserves. As far as relationship and treating him more like a baby I guess I do. I was his mom. You all may not have had to bottle feed your kitten, but its a different experience.

Cute. But I'm afraid I have dogs, and my doggies don't seem to like it, even less when warmer seasons come.  Maybe as the winter draws near, they will reconsider wearing some extra coating

If you're winters a very cold you may have better luck then. Even with my cat I make sure he wears cooler materials in summer. In winter where I live it gets so harsh my 13 year old do will practically put a sweater on her self. I did try shoes once to protect their little toes, but they weren't having it.

I see, did his mother get hit by a car or something? Well your cat is cute, so I'm glad that he survived. I wish I had trained my cat to wear a collar, but even when he was only 8 months old he seems to be very uncomfortable wearing one and would try to yank it out as soon as I'm not looking when I left him tied to the window. So he could even strangle himself if left unattended.

We had two dogs that have since passed away..we used to put sweaters on them during the winter.  We were worried they would be cold because both were short-haired breeds.

I do dress up my dog. But, not during the summers. He's a spaniel and so he looks like a show dog when all dressed up.

She actually died during labor from what I understand. The owner of the mother took care of the kittens for the first week, but couldn't keep up with four kittens. She approached me and asked if I would take him, and I happily obliged. It was my best decision. Thank you for calling him cute! I'm sure your cat is beautiful. I'm glad you see the risk and don't put him at risk of stranglation.

The only thing I put on my cat is a collar. I used to put a sweater on my dog though. He never liked it too much, but he didn't have alot of fur so I think he needed something like that to stay warm when it was cold outside. He never thought much of wearing it though. I am pretty sure my cat would hate it, if I tried to dress him up in any kind of a way.

Oh poor mom, she probably couldn't handle those 4 kittens! Actually my cat looks just like yours, I'm trying to upload a pic of him here and on Tinypic but it always fails so that you can see him. I probably would have more luck uploading on off-peak hours.

I have a dog and a cat - my dog tolerates a winter jacket we have for him, but won't tolerate it for very long!

As for our cat - I have never tried dressing him up and I don't think I ever will! He definitely doesn't have the personality of someone who would be okay with getting dressed up! He's a grump!!

My pet for a long time was my fish.  I kind of felt he needed a raincoat, but I don't think he would have appreciated it. ;)
Sometimes I would decorate the outside of my fish tank for the holidays.  I'd put fake snow around the stand and fasten some reindeer antlers to the outside.  I always thought it would be cute to get a little tree decoration or a pumpkin one and put it in the tank for the holidays.

I don't but I don't mind that others do it. I don't even like that a dog has to wear a collar and especially a leash because I feel it's very restrictive but with clothes I don't mind that much. Maybe just when it's too hot I would rather people just let the animals be but most of the time people who dress up their pets are at least in good environments so I don't mind.
