Dog Has Seizures

Hi All
I have anxiety and depression, and 2 days ago my dog had her first full body seizure. She’s almost 4. My dogs are like my kids, so when she had two kore in a 24 hour period we took her to the vet. It’s been rough with her on a medication now and worrying about having more seizures.
I’m trying to be strong since dogs can sense anxiety but I’m having a tough time.
Has anyone ever dealt with this?

We have a rescue dog who is epileptic. We got him as a young adult 11 years ago, not knowing that he had seizures, but we eventually found out. His seizures were pretty rare, maybe 4 a year at first, but about 4 years later they picked up speed and he was having one every couple of weeks. At that point he was put on phenobarbital, and he has had no real seizure issues since. It's a strong medicine and for a few week he was acting like he was drunk, but then he adjusted. Your dog should be tested for other things that can cause seizures as well; have a full medical workup. Winston had no underlying issues so we assume he was simply born with it.

THANK YOU! It’s been really helpful to hear other stories of dogs with seizures that made it okay and have lived good lives. Just trying to remind myself that sometimes the situation is what it is and anxiety isn’t going to help or change it so I need to keep moving forward.

Had a friend who's cat had some sort of seizure disorder. The vet put the kitty on medication and that seemed to fix it, IIRC that finally passed at something like 17 or 18 just due to old age.

I’ve had 2 dogs with seizures. One of them was really bad and getting them every day. My friend had a dog who had seizures and recommended this holistic vet because he helped reduce the seizures in his dog by changing his diet. So I went to him and he took my dog off the meds and changed the dogs diet and sure enough the seizures gradually went away. Can’t remember the name of the food I was feeding her before, it was some store-bought food but I put her on solid gold and she got better.
