Hello,

I have been under stress and my anxiety is awful. I always worry I have something wrong. Lately I have been constantly taking deep breaths or trying to yawn. Its esp bad at night. Anyone experience this? I'm not short of breath just a feeling of needing a deep breath...and sometimes it takes a few tries to get it

yea i've had this a lot especially as a kid where a normal inhale wouldnt seem to fill my lungs enough but forcing myself to yawn seemed to feel better than normal breathing

When I'm anxious I yawn constantly; I think it's a pretty common symptom, but dear God it can be irritating.

I have the exact same symptom, not short of breath but a consistent urge to yawn to satisfy my breathing. Does this vanish for you over time m? Did you take any mindfulness breathing sessions, yoga mediation, etc. I seem to see dozens of people with the same issue but not many report a solution to their issue if it has been solved over time.

Wooo hooo one positive outcome that I finally read haha good to hear!

Were you constantly focused on your breathing as well? I seem to think about it mostly through out the day. Prior to that did you have any other symptoms or experience a panic attack?

Anything else did you did to help with your breathing?

I would love to hear about more success stories if anyone else would like to share.

If I was busy at work or focused on something else it didn't happen as much...its when I had time to think about it ...then it was bad...definitely anxiety

Yeah same here especially since I’m a teacher. The excessive yawning and the gasping for air wasn’t as often since I was focused at work. Now if I was home alone it is a different story. I have to retrain my mind to stop thinking of my conscious breathing and let my body take over hopefully the Prozac will help with my complisive thoughts as I will be starting it tomorrow but can’t solely rely on that.

Hi
Just lately I keep thinking I can’t breath.
I am constantly thinking about my breathing and struggling to take deep breath.
My father died in October 2018 with lung c.when my father was diagnosed I started having so many symptoms but brushed them aside because I needed to be there for my father.
When I busy or active it takes my mind of things an I feel ok but when I sit and ponder my mind takes over.
I am now with my mother keeping her company for most of the day everyday.
I promised my father I’d look after her.
Does anybody else have trouble breathing when thinking about it?
Thanks in advance

I have the same problem. I am a lot better if I am busy doing something. Just the fact that you feel better and don't have it when you are busy tells you it is probably anxiety. This is a great forum and I am sure you will get some good advice.

good to hear rosey! What were the symptoms you experienced? How was your breathing before? How long did it last for?

My breathing would become labored. I used to breath in and out fast to get air into my lungs. I had to learn to breath slowly and to relax while doing it. I still get it sometimes. If I got interested in something and tried to forget about it , it would ease up. Sometimes it just comes out of the blue but I would just go with it and that sometimes helps. I think it is a common condition of anxiety.

I wake up ant the first thing I think about is my breathing.
I keep telling myself I’m ok but still keep thinking about it.
Does anybody in same situation do the same.?

everything you wrote i experience. It started after I had a panic attack and was hyperventilating and thought I could not catchy my breath for over an hour. I had the same experiences since with the need to yawn and take a deep breath. You’re best thing to do is try to stay busy and not focus on whether you are breathing correctly and distract your mind

What are your symptoms? Are you doing anything to help like deep breathing, meditation, therapy or medicine?

Body hyper awareness, there are a few very good videos on YouTube about the subject. I suffer from this and am going through a tough bought of it right now.
